can someone please explain how a boxer ever lands a lucky punch? i was under the impression if someone is throwing a punch at a opponent it cant be classed as luck if it lands as that was the original intention(weather someone gets knocked out by the punch is irrelevant), only lucky punch i can think of is tyson fury punching himself

Using Pacquiao as an example for both Pacquiao-Hatton is a lucky punch he dominated Hatton up to that point but the actual KO punch head down eyes close not even look at where your throwing just all out full force for a colossal KO. Pacquiao-Marquez not so much clearly JMM has his wits about him his eyes never leave the target he just baits him til he got in range the fact that it actually KO'd Pac was lucky but the shot he used he hit Pacquiao with repeatedly during the 4th fight.

No such thing as a lucky punch.

Marquez's right hand counter has always been the punch he has had the most success with against Pac. Pac simply ran into a huge counter while jumping in, people have been pointing out this flaw in his style for many years, I remember the commentators saying this when he first fought Barrera. It simply took Marquez 4 fights to land this counter this cleanly.

Lewis being dropped by McCall was no fluke. Steward had notice Lewis was open to the right when he threw his own and has trained McCall to throw this punch when Lewis did. You saw him try it in the first round a few times.
