Nothing can improve his legacy now its too late . He blew his chances of ever reaching ATG status by cherry picking & ducking legitimate opponents. I hope he retires after Berto but this tine STAY RETIRED!!!

Becoming lineal at MW. There's no name in boxing who adds anything to it simply by winning against them.

Dude quit drinking the Kool-aid Mayweather has beaten the most Champs all time, tied for most Lineal Titles, beat the legitimate man for 4/5 of his titles, and beat the #1 rated fighter or Champion in 4/5 division at least twice, while going unbeaten. More fighter should try that and we'd have more greats and great match ups.

ROFLMAO Your drinking the Kool aid I think. Mayweather has the padded record to beat them all He lost 2 fight should have been DQ'd in 2 more at least. Take those rose colored specs off youre imagining things

Beat the consensus best SFW twice in Hernandez & Coralles
Beat the consensus best LW twice Castillo
Beat the #1 rated JWW behind Tyszu in Gatti
Beat the consensus #1 WW three times Baldomir, Mosley, & Pacquiao
Beat the consensus #1 JMW three times in Hoya, Cotto, & Alvarez

Out of 23/4 Champs beaten not including rematches only 3 were former Champs everyone else was either reigning or won a major title afterward.

That ain't padding unless your going to bring up fighters who are on record saying they didn't want Floyd at one point like Cotto or Mosley.

Even now as bad as a Berto fight is Andre Berto would be the best or in the top 2 best wins of 2/3 of the WW division.

    He lost to Castillo
    He lost to Maidana
He should have been DQ'd against Ortiz
He should have been Dq'd against Judah when Roger entered the ring. There are 4 losses
    Ducked Tszyu to fight Gatti
Ducked Margarito to fight Boldomir. Floyd said Margarito had 6 losses wasn't worthy. Baldomir had EIGHT losses ROFL plus Floyd lost $$ fighting Baldy plus he stunk out the arena
ShallI carry on ?? Mayweather was all smoke, mirrors & unadulterated bull feces :hi:

Kostya Tszyu: Retired after Hatton fight....a month before Floyd's fight with Gatti. The Gatti fight was the pre-cursor to Tszyu vs Mayweather.

    Antonio Margarito: Blame Arum

Also, Mayweather technically made more money to fight Baldomir...his pay was $8 million and 1 dollar...!!!

Do you ever actually pay attention to who you're responding to with your snarky comments, you've done the same thing with me in the past and I'm no big Floyd fan, try to be aware of who's quasi on your side and who's against you.

The only answer. There's no reward in beating young welterweights like Brook or Thurman, and neither quite deserve Floyd yet really. Mayweather already whitewashed Canelo and Pacquio and rematches would be pointless. I fCotto beats Canelo I guess a rematch of their somewhat competitive first fight would be worth watching. But really the only fight that would elevate Floyd's standing and reputation would be Golovkin. If Golovkin beats Lemieux then next year Canelo to become basically the star of boxing, and Floyd announces he wants to come back to challenge him... the world would be salivating. The great defensive genius attempting to climb probably one division too many against a prime, skilled, knockout-destroyer. Barring that, Floyd will just be treading water if he continues fighting, and he should retire for good after Berto.

Golovkin at 160 but he's never weighed above 152 so I wouldn't expect him to take it, nor any welterweight. Nobody would be asking Pacquiao to fight Golovkin if he'd won in May so don't ask Floyd.

But by your logic of timing, Pacquiao has more cherry picks than Mayweather so you're calling Pacquiao one too... good one :patsch

Berto. Fantasy fights doesn't add to a fighter's legacy unless they're called Mike Tyson or David Haye.

Winning the lineal title at MW would elevate his current ATG status.

Golovkin seems like the toughest guy at 160, but the only reason for him to even entertain that fight is if Gennady was the true champ at MW, which he isn't.

I have no doubts that if Mayweather beats Berto and wants to go after the winner of Alvarez-Cotto, than Sulaiman (WBC president) will make that happen for him. By winning the MW title, he'd be the simultaneous lineal champion in 3 weight classes (or 2 out of the old 8 original divisions.) The only other guy that I know who pulled off such a feat was the great Henry Armstrong.

Personally, I don't think there's any fights between 140-154 lbs that would add to Floyd's legacy compared to him going to 160 and winning the lineal title there.

Beating Golovkin would be one of his best wins and add the most to his legacy. While Golovkin is unproven at the highest level, he is a full fledged middle and highly rated within in own division.

I think Mayweather will come back for one more fight but doubt it will be Golovkin unless Golovkin pulls in really big numbers for his PPV debut with Lemieux. The winner of Cotto/Canelo is more likely as it's more lucrative and less risky.
