Lets forget about championships, rankings, weight (to an extent), styles, etc. for a minute and give me your opinions on what fights would generate the most crossover interest. I'm looking for the "SUPERBOWL" of boxing from a marketing standpoint. Or better yet "The World Series of Boxing".
The Super Bowl of boxing would be to have many huge fights on the same fight card. Klitschkow-Peter II Calzaghe-Pavlik Cotto-Mayweather Hatton-Pacquiao Not necessarily in that order....
The Night of the Champions: 1st; Pac/Hatton 2nd; Cotto/Mayweather 3rd; Pavlik/Calzaghe This one would SMASH all previous PPV records even if it was $99.95
nah thats not a big mainstream fight IMO. Pavlik is not 2 known by the mainstream America, neither is Calzaghe. OScar delahoya vs Felix Trinidad 2 Roy Jones Jr vs FLoyd Mayweather Jr Floyd Mayweather vs Miguel Cotto
well im looking from a amarketing standpoint, RJ has abig fanbase, and FLoyd does as well. Good guy vs bad guy plot Trust me this would b huge
The world would be watching... Pacquiao Vs. Hatton [Phillipines Vs. England] Pavlik Vs. Abraham [Germany Vs. U.S.] Cotto Vs. Mayweather [P.R. Vs. The U.S.] Chavez Jr. Vs. De La Hoya [U.S. Vs. Mexico]
Interesting event that would be called: Night of Champions. I also would call it if it is not trademarked: Best of the Best!!!
And make those fights happen in the new Yankee Stadium ! Such a card would probably also be the most money generated on site, including the most money made selling food, beer, t-shirts, etc....because there would be a packed house right from the start of the event !!
