Penn will finish Diaz. Not sure GSP would, however GSP would dominate from start to finish. I would rather see the finish.
Penn-Diaz; the winner is a natural to be a legitimate challenge to GSP. Penn gets himself back in the frame (although he has no chance) and Diaz could get his name out there to 'casual fans' (although he'd have little chance as well) Benn Vs Diaz; both have aggressive Jits, both are more than competant standing. I've got a feeling BJ will roll back the years and smash Nick to bits early. Not quite Uno style, but something equally savage inside five minutes.
Both are great match ups and I can't seperate them really. Condit and Diaz both come to fight. Condit perhaps comes with a more dynamic approach, which may force GSP to switch it up more. Diaz is hands and jits. Those are his big threats. Condit isn't necessarily better than Diaz but he has more threats that are more unpredictable. I want to see GSP fight. Also, Penn is a touch defensive against Condit due to his size but I don't think he'll be wary to engage with Nick. He'll think he is a better striker and grappler. BJ and Nick are also 2 of the few guys cut from the old school cloth. They want a proper fight and winning on points isn't what they want. They want to win the fight. Stylistically, due to personalities and skills, this might be better match ups. No one wants to see Penn vs GSP but it could be winner vs winner if the cards fall right.
Diaz/Penn. Anyone who saw Nick's first run in the UFC should have known better than to think that he could make GSP dig deep and actually fight because he gets wrestle****ed every time he steps in against a guy with a good double.
Diaz Penn. Both are exciting fighters whereas GSP is boring who'd try to stifle the life out of Nick. This really is a dream fight
Penn/Diaz.. Unifying belts is always nice, but GSP has been putting me to sleep since he fought Dan Hardy. He is very talented, but has been an absolute bore as of late.. He is lacking that killer instinct, he just does not go for the kill when the opportunity presents itself. GSP/Diaz wouldn't have been what we were promised.. GSP would surely stink up the joint if he were able to distance himself.. Rather than finishing off his opponent, we get another UD.. Condit won't let this happen to him. I think Diaz would throw a fit if he were being outclassed and take his decision loss on the chin rather than going out on his shield. In Penn/Diaz, we get a dream matchup. Both fighters have good hands, and huge egos. Anderson Silva has the best hands in MMA, and this will answer who has the 2nd best. Either way, high level striking will be going down in both fights. Diaz UD GSP by submission.
Which hasnt been in over 5 years. Diaz's boxing and Jiujitsu has improved greatly since then why cant his wrestling ? It already had improved when he fought Sean Sherk people just look at the result and think Sherk mustva took him down over and over well it didnt happen like that.
I voted Diaz/GSP only because it was the scheduled fight and I was looking forward to it. But, I have no problem with Diaz/Penn (who would!) Diaz probably should have been given a fight before getting a title shot anyways, a la Jake Shields. If BJ handles him, then his claim to title shot coming straight from Strikeforce would seem suspect. And if he beats Penn, then he gets to fight for the belt.
MMA fans overestimate how much guys can improve and there's nothing to suggest that he's done so with his wrestling. GSP takes down the best wrestlers around at 170, Diaz could never improve to the point that he can regularly stuff that sort of shot and you're delusional if you think so.
