Which Fight would you rather see next

He's better in 1 department striking! Jones has wrestling clinch and from what we've seen ground game advantage!

 

I would love to see a JDS/Hunt fight but unless Mark wins the injury lottery and finds himself in a PPV main event fighting for the UFC heavyweight championship - then he technically shouldn't be considered the number one contender based on rankings. He beat Kongo. Let's not get crazy. Now he needs to beat someone that will put him on his back.

 

I think they should shelve dos Santos vs Velasquez for now ...............

I said that as soon it was obvious it was going to happen , nothing against either man , nothing against the fight stylistically , Cain just hasn't done enough to warrant the shot after being KO'd so decisively last time out , but ................ Velasquez fits the dominant wrestler prototype Dana likes , and frankly he is the best HW underneath dos Santos who isn't juicing so who can argue

Personally id of liked to see Werdum get his shot if he beats Russow , Werdum aside i can't think of anybody who would deserve a shot more than Cain Velasquez , so to that end Werdum would of been my only alternative to Velasquez

Yes that is probably true, but when i imagine this fight in my head, i see JDS using great takedown defense and crushing Jones on the feet. If the fight somehow got to the ground, you have a point, Jones is better on the ground. But good luck getting JDS to the ground

 

I want to see Cain Versus JDS again. I watched the first fight live, and it only went for 1 minute or so =( . I Want to seem them in a 5 round war. I think that Cain just got caught and the first fight is not indicative of what a second or third fight could be.

I would want to see hunt fight Roy Nelson or Shane Carwin, and then get a title shot.

Fact is jds would beat both hunt an Cain 9-10 but with hints chin (which Cain definately doesn't have ) hunt atleast goes in with a genuine punchers chance.

Exactly. Cain vs JDS is a GREAT fight, and that itch hasn't been properly scratched yet. It was bad luck for Cain that he walked into a temple shot before his body had adjusted to being in a fight. It's stupid to just assume that he'd suffer a quick KO again, just because it happened the first time. I expect a war the second time around. Even allowing for the result of the first one, Cain vs JDS 2 is a FAR superior fight than JDS vs Hunt. :good

Absolutely. Let him beat a contender. Not a gatekeeper like Kongo. To let flabby, 38 year old, 8-7 Hunt challenge for the UFC HW title without first managing any significant wins in the UFC simply devalues the belt. :bart

I mean, look at what JDS did to Carwin and Nelson. Two guys with iron chins who figured they'd stand and bang with him. Does anyone really see Hunt's fate as being anything different? Hunt is tough enough to take a horrific beating, sure. But he hasn't shown that he's tough enough to threaten to take the title away. :good

Do you assume that Cain vs JDS 2 will end with JDS winning by knockout in the first half of the first round, like the first fight did? Is it not fair to say that the fight will likely play out differently next time?

Is his MMA record not 8-7? Is Kongo not his best win in the UFC? Is he not 38 years old, flabby, and unknown to the casual fan? Did he not lose SIX fights in a row by stoppage, and only beat a nobody and two gatekeepers since then?

Let's flip it around. Why is Hunt the one who should get the title shot? What exactly has he done to deserve it? Has a good chin? Likes to throw bombs? Great. Put him on the card. But not in the main event, challenging for the HW belt. :blood

So let's sum up:

1) Cain vs JDS is an obvious mismatch because Cain has been knocked out that one time in his career, and because Kongo staggered him at one point during a dominant Cain win. But JDS vs Mark "38 years old, 15 pro MMA fights, lost 7 of them by stoppage, 3-6 in the last 6 years with the best win being Cheick Kongo" Hunt is a competitive high-level title fight because it's likely Hunt will be able to soak up quite a lot of brutal punishment before Junior stops him.

2) Beating a contender is totally irrelevant when it comes to determining whether or not a guy deserves a title shot. One win each over a nobody, a journeyman and a gatekeeper will get you a shot at Junior. :-(

3) Because Brock "I sell a million PPVs every time I fight" Lesnar was quickly granted a title shot, that means that Hunt and presumably any other .500 fighter with a solid chin who likes to bang is worthy of challenging for the HW title.

1) I'm not saying it's a mismatch, I'm saying Cain doesn't deserve the fight...****in Stefan Struve on a 3 win streak, all before the bell, is more deserving then Cain...you keep bringing the contender arguement...Cain just beat a guy who got KTFO in his last fight and he deserve a title shot ?? Cain got rocked not once but TWICE in the Kongo fight...and the second KD was more or less the same Temple punch as JDS

You saying it was a lucky shot is complete BS...it's not like JDs thew alot of punch in the fight... !

But Yes, IMO JDs VS Cain II doens't got the distance, I don't see Cain taking JDS down...and Cain doesn't have the chin to stand with JDS...maybe it will go into round 2 or 3 but it's not going the distance !!!

2) Irrelevant because it's not ranking related...if they wanted to they could make the fight...

3) TBH yes, I see your angle here but it's complete BS...PPV sell shoudn't dictate who fight who. Cain VS Brock wasn't exceptional...Cain VS Overeem wasn't exceptional...he got ****in beat down like a clown...the come back against Carwin was nice but it's 100% Carwin fault. Bottom line Brock was given the fight only because **** loads of redneck WWE fans wanted to see him fight...and again...if you would be consistent in your arguement you would admit Brock didn't deserve a title shot because if hasn't fought anybody...double ****in standard man...so yes, Hunt should get the fight based on that alone, but he won't cause he isn't a cash cow.
