Hatton appealed to so many because of his personality. People could relate to him. There won't be as popular a fighter in the UK for years.

paul smith will have the liverpool following...

... but i think Kevin Mitchell will be the next darling of Britain. As soon as he wins a world title, he will be the next ricky hatton in terms of following and support. :good

Be fun watching him though. Thought he was quite flat in his last fight.

I was never a massive hatton fan tbh, wanted him to beat pbf, but not arsed really.
I dont personally think there is anyone who can crossover, other than haye.
I think jaffa may have the personality further down the line, proper funny fella, anyone see the maloney crimbo video?

He will go further than Smith ;)

And I agree with Avid, Jeffries has the potential to be the next superstar of British boxing. He has the personality, the football fans, will be in exciting fights etc. - he just needs to be good enough to get to world level and that is sadly something I doubt at this point in time.

It's called stepping up. Maludrottu was without doubt his toughest opponent so far and he managed to get through it :good

Well he is already Euro champ and defended the title a few times and is in a WBC eliminator in his next fight. Yes I am sure :good

I accept that, it is just that his work rate did not seem to be there.

I think the only reason he seems to be going further than smith right now is that quite early into his career he is one fight off fighting for wbc title, in a division that is pretty devoid of high competition. But i get your point

hmm, jurys stil out on smith so we will see :think

i must add tho, munroe has been getting bigger fights than paul over the past few years. doesnt help smigga being a FW fighter too :conf
