Dislikeable he certainly is, but a coward - which he is referred to as by an awful lot of people from what I've seen - he isn't. And that's why I believe he receives a lot of unjust abuse. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of his, I merely believe him to be a tad underrated and overly-hated by a lot of peeps here.

For what it's worth, the bottom line is the main scoring criteria for boxing is clean effective punching, effective aggression, defence, and ring generalship. Dirrell landed the only really decent or meaningful blows over the course of the fight, showed better defence and showed the only effective aggression in the fight(even if it was sparing). Whether or not he ''ran'' or not doesn't matter in terms of scoring if the work he did conformed to the scoring criteria to a greater degree than Froch's did. If we didn't give fighters victories they deserved due to an ''embarrassing'' performance then Jones would be 2-0 against Hopkins.

Anyways, I don't think I've ever called Dirrell a coward, nor do I think any boxer is a coward.

I just think our interpretation of the word "******" is different. What I meant is that he has sex with men.

to be fair,it the boxing world was full of kats,come forward warriors then IMO boxing would be a lot better,boxers like dirrel,who is not a great ,he is most certainly not a pure boxer,what ever a pure boxer is:huh,he is what i would call a spoiler:thumbsup

I'm partial to defensive fighters myself, but I just think he went beyond defense in that fight regularly, bobbing and weaving, slipping shots etc great.

To be honest I've not seen the fight since the night it took place, I was in the arena in a decent seat up in the Gods, and I've no inclination to watch it again.

Did Dirrell win? It didn't appear so from the view I had (Flea will second this) though everyone had a different opinion watching the tape back. If he did win, fair play, but I'm of the opinion that if you don't give it your all, and try to steal a fight like he did, then you can't complain too much if the verdict goes against you. Not saying it's right or anything, but.....

I'm sure he's not a coward deep down, certainly no more than pretty much any other fighter going around, but his behaviour is irritating, basically he seems like an arsehole, so he's bound to cop more than his fair share of negative comments, especially when comparisons are made with other, more ''balls to the wall'' fighters.

Nobody said it should be full of Dirrells. My opinion from the start was that I like all types of boxers. Nobody said he was great, I don't give a **** about Dirrell, I'm not a fan of his, don't get it twisted. I just offered his name to this thread because it fits this thread ****ing perfectly.

And of course he's a pure boxer, that's not a compliment, that's a style of fighting. You can still be a **** pure boxer, nobody is creditiing him with being amazing at it, I'm saying he is a good pure boxer, and he is. A spoiler is someone like what Hatton became at the back end of his career when past his prime, hitting, holding, hitting, holding, like what Bonecrusher did to Tyson.

Dirrells style is to do everything as a science as opposed to an art, like a weaker version of Kalmbay or some ****, boxing at range and when he closes the distance he still doesn't go all out slugging, he picks his punches. I'm not complimenting him, this is his style.

It was a decent fight, I thought Dirrell won it clearly. It really annoyed me that Froch kept projecting his own criteria of what it is to be a good boxer onto everyone else. He kept talking about Dirrell not being a warrior etc. I don't respect that and I would have respected him more if he would have just accepted that he is good at fighting the way he does and that Dirrell is good at doing it the way he does. There's room for us to like boxers and brawlers.

Anyway, we're friends now, yay. Peace Barry.
