Sorry but I hate this Vargas myth that I always read on boxing forums...He wasn't "ruined" by Tito, the fact is he was never that good to begin with. Tough guy, but did not have world class skills and was overhyped. Every time he faced the elite, he got beat down.

The question states: "Fighters that were either hyped or you thought had a lot of potential."

    He was both.

Taylor is far from the best example. He had the 2nd best win of his career AFTER losing to Chavez, winning a title in a division he was undersized in.

More like the best (or 2nd best) example of HBO's Legendary Nights polluting boxing forums with their myths.

Whereas guys like Reid and Moore never won another fight of note. They had a more significant and immediate decline in performance and were more ruined in their first defeats. Or more tragic cases like Kim.

Jeff Lacey for sure. David Reid, Meldrick Taylor goes without saying.

Lacey gets my # 1 vote. Guy just lost to a journeyman with more losses than wins.

Vargas is underrated BECAUSE of what that beat down did to him. I have to disagree with you man.

Was Tszyu ruined or was he pretty much done by the time he fought Hatton? Tszyu just destroyed Mitchell in a previous fight.

Crap, thought of his second loss instead of the first.
