He went on some sort of surfing adventure around the world I believe, and is now looking for contracts to fight again.

I think Arona is a good choice, hed be one of te few strong enough to hold him down and not get subbed. Other than that no one has a shot...

Anyone saw the way he grabbed Irvins roundhouse and timed that right hand? Who the **** catches a roundhouse like that.and throws a missile as a counter? Im sorry no one beats him..

Arona, Couture may have a shot

I would like to see Cung Le versus Silva, just because Silva KO1 might dispel a bit of Cung Le's "greatness".

I think Thiago Silva might have a good shot of beating Anderson. He is a big guy, and he uses his jujitsu very well to set up devastating ground and pound.

I don't know for sure out of that list, but I know that I WANT to see him fight Chuck Lidell.

Also, I think GSP only stands a chance if he can get the fight to the ground fast. GSP has pretty good striking, but it would be a terrible terrible mistake if he attempted to strike with Silva for more than 2 seconds at a time.

GSP has very little chance of surviving 5 rounds. Cung Le would be throughly outclassed everywhere the fight went.

On the ground, yes, standing - no. Cung is actually more versatile on his feet than Anderson.

    Agree 100% with this.:good

I think Arona would have the best chance by doing something similar to what he did when he beat Wand. Like someone said before he has the strength to hold him down and the ability to avoid being subbed on the ground.

Also the cage would be a huge advantage for Arona. He would be able to keep Silva pinned against the cage and secure a takedown much easier. Add in elbows for his gnp and he's sorted. Like he says, the UFC rules are made for him. Apart from him maybe Machida would be able to grab a close decision. To be honest Anderson is probably a favourite against anyone from 170 to 205.

Silva never fought an elusive guy like GSP on his feet. GSP has the tools to avoid Silva's strike(don't say Serra, GSP got caught being unaware 'cause he underrated Serra's standing in my opinion)He wont do it vs Silva, , he wont stand with him 'cause he know he cant, so GSP will take him easily on the ground. The Question is, can GSP hold Silva on the ground? Silva has a poor defence takedown in my opinion. Dan Henderson shouldnt have tried to make it too much standing vs Silva.
Silva may very well TKO GSP, but GSP may very well win a 5 round, with him on the top of Silva.
    60/40 in favor of Silva

Cung's lack of any kind of versatility whatsoever aside from side kicks on the feet is actually what prompts me to pick Silva and label Cung as overrated. Silva is about the most versatile standup fighter there is, from punches, kicks, knees, clinch, elbows, etc. I'll take that any day over fancy side kicks. Seriously, where the **** did you come to that conclusion?

GSP has zero chance of experiencing any kind of success on the feet with any top notch striker. He is too basic. He has good movement, but he's simply too basic. He'd get owned severely on the feet against Anderson, and every time he shot or tried to close the distance he'd be in range of having a bomb landed on him, which would be the beginning of the end for him.

On the ground he'd be able to maintain top position for periods, that is it. Silva would probably do more effective work on bottom than GSP would on top, or at least equal anyway. Bottom line, over 5 rounds I see no way in hell GSP is able to repeat this constantly without catching anything big. Not a chance in hell.

At the 185 weight class i only see two guys with any chance and that is Paulo Filho (when recovered) and also Rousimar Palhares (not quite ready yet). I think maybe some of the top 205 guys might have a shot as well but at his true weight class these are the only guys i could see beating him in the next couple of years barring a breakout star.

    This is probably true.

I have to disagree here. Le may give a limited impression against some of this lesser opposition, but I feel that is because he has not been threatened by his opponents thus far. I've been impressed by his effective use of the side kick to go along with his powerful round kicks. His kicks make him a threat any time he is standing. If you count throws as part of a fighter's stand-up game, his clinch is very dangerous as well. Le also has good handspeed to boot, or glove if you prefer.

I would personally like to see Le beat Lawler over at Elite, and then maybe face someone like Thiago Alves if he joins the UFC. If Le can be victorius in fights like those a fight with Silva would be earned, and possibly a rather large event.

I partially take back the "not been threatened by his opponents" comment from above. Shamrock did hurt him in the final stanza of their fight.
