This can apply to any weight. This is a subject that has come up several times in connection with certain heavy s such as Lewis, frazier, Bruno, Norton and Patterson. Some of the criticism may be justified such as Norton losing to heavy hitters and frazier to foreman. The Lewis ko defeats are seen by some as evidence of a weak chin. But which fighter s iyo are unfairly labelled as a poor punch resistant s? Some times a ko loss for a fighter can be to easily put aside as him unable to take a punch when other fights he had seem to contradict this.

Terry Norris. One loss to the biggest puncher of the last 30 years and one to a granite like Simon Brown who landed the shot of his career, and routinely called chinny. David Haye is another who actually had a pretty solid chin but is thought of as dodgy round the jaw.

Good shout norris. The guy was around at the top level for a good few years and did well, yet like u say the loss to Jackson is used against him. Bomber Graham will testify to his punch.

I would have to say Joe Louis.

A lot of people look at his number of flash knockdowns, put two plus two together, and end up with six.

On the two occasions when he was actually stopped, he took helacious beatings.

Patterson! Of course I would say that wouldn't I?
If you look at his career, most of his KD's were of the off-balance, flash KD variety. Outside of the Liston bombs in both fights (Sonny said he'd never hit anyone harder, feeling the impact deep into his back) the Ingo shot in the first fight, and the right in the second round of Quarry 1 (which he proceeded to kick Jerry's ass after that) when was he ever seriously hurt after being knocked down? None of the above kept him on the canvass (even against Sonny he was getting up, not in some ***** street puddle!) That Frenchman as a teenager, Radamacher, Harris?, all the other Ingo KD's, the other three Quarry KD's, Ali 1, Bonavena? He usually rose with a bemused, embarrassed, smile on his face in all those.
I've read somewhere that one of Floyd's legs was about 3/4's of an inch shorter than the other which might tend to a bit of off balance. I'm out, everyone knows how I feel about my childhood hero.

David Hayes seen as a pretty boy. When infact, in peak condition and prime he was an absolute beast. He just couldn't deal with a safety first great Heavyweight imo

    Felix Trinidad.

He was knocked down often but usually early in fights to due to being a slow starter and sometimes poor balance. At the end of the day Tito fought some good punchers from Yory Boy Campos, Fernando Vargas, Troy Waters, Oscar DelaHoya, David Reid, Ricardo Mayorga and even Roy Jones. He was stopped once in 44 fights and that was after taking a beating from Bernard Hopkins in his 3rd weight division North.

The 1st knockdown in the 1st Johansson fight was devastating.
When Floyd got up he didn't know where he was, he turned his back on Ingo and walked away. Goldstein should have stopped it then. Instead he lets Ingo come from behind and smash a left hook from around the side onto the unprotected Floyd's jaw followed by a rabbit punch! Yet Floyd gets up and subsequently kept getting up.
    Incredible!

I think wlad Klitschko gets labelled as glass jawed, but he beat so many big punchers and two of his stoppage losses were exhaustion more than anything

By no means did Patterson have a good chin. He down 18 times in his career.

But perhaps it wasn't as bad as critics say as he got up a lot.

Patterson's lack of confidence may have had something to do with it taking the punch.
