Which fighter iyo could stand toe to toe with a prime foreman. And win?

Countless times I've read no heavy could stand head on against foreman and beat him. No one coming at him straight on could stand a chance. Does this stem from the frazier fight where a swarming fighter was destroyed, or is it any fighter coming at George ends up beat. Any fighter s from history that u feel would have the skills and strength to do this and come out successfully?

Yeah liston for sure. Think if they both came together that's how it would turn out , toe to toe. Which fighter ends up flat? In my opinion liston comes off worse but not before hurting George. It could be similar to the lyle fight. I'm having a hard time thinking of any one also would and could do this

 

Tex cobb just sprung to mind in a crazy sort of way ¡!!!!!!!!! ! He wouldnt win for sure but he d probably go toe to toe! Lol

 

Ike Ibeabuchi . Had inhumane strength rumored bench press over 500 lbs and endless stamina
shown in the Tua war and Mount Rushmore chin. Was crazy but if he had overcome his demons
he could have dominate the division for years. Nobody can say if he could have beat Foreman
but for going toe to toe Ike would be the closet to slugging it out with Foreman and winning.

 

I think there are a fair number of guys. Superheavies like Vitali and Lewis might well do so. Tyson didn't believe that he could but I think he might. Prime Foreman was 225 iirc. Tyson was only 10lb less. Of course, this isn't to say Foreman wouldn't have chances of his own. Just saying that he's not unbeatable in a shootout.

Ike for sure , forgot about that guy. Remember reading a ring mag saying Ike was the reincarnation of liston or something along those lines. So yes he could possibly stand there and take it to foreman. Would have been a heck of a rumble!

 

Lewis against foreman. It's possible Lewis could win a shoot out with George'. It lennox gets in first similar to ruddock and golata and really goes to war then yes could do it, but just not sure when foreman hits back how lennox takes it. He certainly hasn't got the china chin some say but against a prime foreman u do need a bloody good one. No detriment to lenny but he would have to hurt George quick and sharp

 

I agree with this.

You've either got to have a monster chin or monster power to hang with him toe to toe. Lewis has the big power, and I agree that he'd have to land it sharpish. There was a Ross Puritty thread a while ago. Someone like Ross is as pretty crude but infinitely durable and very strong. I could see Foreman blowing his wad trying to get a guy like him outta there and then paying for it.

 

Never thought of puritty but yes, if he could get in there, take the big guys best punches then as the fight wears on foreman s running low on gas. Would need that good chin to hang in there but it's feasible. Mccall sprang tu mind to. Bruno and Lewis caught him with some cracking punch s but never went down

 

Liston and Lewis are the best chances for me. Liston's punches are tighter and more compact and imo in the same ballpark for power. Lewis' right hand can move mountains.

 

Well a fighter called Ron Lyle came pretty close.

 

Lyle did come pretty close , it's just that actually beating him this way that doesn't work against him. Ron came close but ended up flat out.

 

That's true, but Foreman was a whisker away from oblivion there, they were bad knockdowns.
So it isn't inconceivable that a fighter of a slightly higher calibre than Lyle in all the attributes strength,power,skill and heart could topple George.
Mind you that would be a mighty fine fighter!!
