All four of these fighters have been great for the sport. Their fans love the hell out of them but as much fan support as they have they also have as many haters. So, ESB, its time to decide among sports greats, which fighter had the biggest legion of haters? Sugar Ray Leonard, who in his time was often called a "creature of television," Oscar De La Hoya, Floyd Mayweather, or Manny Pacquiao?
You can put MAB and Ali on the list with 'most haters' too. Some people just like their boxers to look like they just got out of prison, and nothing else is good enough to inspire their man-love. It's called 'Aaron Pryor Syndrome'.
I voted Manny Pacquiao because hes got more haters than he should have. The guy is good for boxing and is bringing boxing back from the dead to mainstream. If you hate him because of his fans then hate his fans, the guy is everything we want in a prizefighter.
I think Pacman had it really bad early on. I think his haters are coming around now though. I think the peak of the Manny hate was right before the second Marquez fight. Marquez was supposed to show how limited Manny was. The result of the fight proved different, shrinking the hate base down to its most stubborn element.
Yep, the Leija fans, the Paez fans, the Hernandez fans, the Ruelas fans, and the Chavez fans. This can be said for pretty much all the fighters on the list though.
