Lots of good calls on here. I'll add a few more.

In general the second tier HW's from the mid 60's thru mid 70's are under rated by the younger fans. Guys like Quarry, Chuvalo, Wepner, Bonavena, and a few others were damn good fighters. They just had the misfortune of fighting during the Ali-Frazier-Foreman years. How many of todays heavies could fight Frazier TWICE and finish on their feet in competetive fights BOTH TIMES? Bonavena did it! How many of Todays heavies would Big George Foreman intentionally avoid? He admits to avoiding Quarry!

I also think Bronco "Superman" McKart is severely underrated. Prime McKart would have made a damn fine world titlist if he had not had a little problem named Winky Wright.

And finally (don't laugh) I think Grady Brewer is underrated. He is a MUCH better fighter than his record indicates. The guy has been screwed more tiimes than a $10 *****. He also made a lot of dumb choices along the way. If Brewer had started a little younger, and made better choices, he could have been a very repsectable guy at 147 and 154. Grady is my favorite journeyman.

    Under or Over?

I say it's both. Very few get it right.

    Z Gorres

Was robbed against Montiel and gave Vic a helluva close fight, in fact Vic looked much worst against Gorres than against Donaire minus the last knockout punch.

As a huge McCallum fan...the underrated angle as been done to death a little bit now. If anything people overuse the term to describe him, that can lead to overrating if we are not careful.

    As for other fighters...

    Orlando Canizales
    Pongsaklek Wonjongkam
    Jeff Fenech
    Sumbu Kalambay
    Jung-Koo Chang
    Carlos Ortiz
    Vicente Saldivar
    Ken Buchanan
    Rocky Lockridge
    Hozumi Hasegawa
    Ceferino Garcia
    Miguel Canto
    Nicolino Locche
    John Conteh
    Lionel Rose
    Ernesto Marcel
    Luis Estaba
    Miguel Lora
    Victor Galindez
    Masamori Tokuyama
Wilfredo Gomez....mainly because so many people still think Morales, Barerra and Pac beat him at 122.

Please note those fighters are of all varying abilities...Im not saying they are on par. Some are well thought of but should be thought of better...Some are just totally overlooked.

I had Starling winning the first Curry fight by one point.

Both Starling and Curry would probably do really well in today's WW era and the late 90s with Pea, Trinidad, Ike, and DLH.

Quartey was very good. The guy was inactive for almost a year and a half and fought on even terms (I thought he won) with an undefeated De La Hoya. But his own inactivity hurt him. Took a year off after the DLH fight and then 5 years off after losing to Nando.

I think McCallum more or less gets his credit nowadays.
