    .............since coming to ESB?

Which fighter or fighters did you used to be keenly interested in or think very highly of that you now not rate as highly, due to what you've gleaned here? I would imagine we'd all do our own research of course, but there's got to be something planting the seed in your mind.......

Gene Tunney(see Tunney vs Conn thread). I've always been down on him for his carefully constructed career. After learning from Klompton about all of his pre-fight manipulations(example: Jeff Smith) and how his comrades in the New York newspapers always took care of him by putting their pro-Tunney spin on his fights (see Greb-Tunney II) it just became harder and harder to admire him. I have a hard time justifying a top 25 ranking for him. A great fighter, but severely overrated, imo.

So in the last ten days ESB has caused your rating of Greb to drop? Which threads?

    Same question.

Honestly, I can't think of any boxer who's stock -- in an absolute sense -- has gone down as I learned more about him. Basically, the more I learn, the more I admire. Occaisionally a boxer goes down in a relative sense, as i learn more about other guys.

My assessment of Tyson has actually improved a bit. I figured there would be a lot more Foreman Hook types on this board denouncing his accomplishments, but I was wrong. Even though Tyson's reputation here varies heavily on both ends of the scale, most of the better posters at ESB acknowldege Tyson's greatness.
