Inoue might end up near the top.

Inoue, Gassiev and Ancajas could all make the list depending on how certain things go.

Hearns was top drawer to the body. He nearly cut Barkley and Shuler in half. It's probably a bit harder to punch to the body of a much shorter opponent (although he floored Duran with a body shot) so his body attack looked better against six footers like Barkley and Shuler.

If Emanuel Steward only taught two things, the hook to the body along with the right cross were his thing. He made McClellan the dangerman he was by teaching him how to hook to the body and Tommy was the original recipient of that excellent coaching.

Hearns did indeed have a decent body assault himself.

    Some of my favorites
    HW: Frazier, Tyson, Holyfield
    LHW: Kovalev, RJJ(1998-2002)
MW: GGG, Toney, McClellan, Hearns, Alvarez
    WW: Cotto, ODLH, Trinidad
LW and Below: Duran, Barrera, Morales , Chavez, Mosley

Some of these picks like Morales or Toney are unconventional

It's pretty obvious what my favorite era of boxing is hahah

Eusebio Pedroza, although lacking that lethal whack, was a good, steady body-puncher. Those with more heft to their body work I would immediately call out Jack Dempsey, Tony Zale, Jose Napoles, Bennie Briscoe, Carmen Basilio. The Mexican contingent who developed their inside work marked by the deadly left hook to the liver would be Kid Azteca, Ruben Olivares, Rodolfo Gonzalez, Carlos Zarate and Julio Cesar Chavez. But to pick one that embodies the title of best body-puncher ever. I would have to say Joe Frazier.

    Micky Ward.

He would fold you in half. It was his best punch.
