I don't know but I would like to know too. Sounds like something Graziano or some other 'rebel' would say (no offense to Graziano intended, if he happened to love roadwork).
Am defo sure its one of them, remember it was kinda Italian sounding. Also.....might have been him that was told to run to the green lights.......but they were all red as he approached and ran an extra 4 miles or something. If not it was definately at the same period in the book and cheers......i would check but the books are all packed away. :thumbsup
