Which fighters 185lb/under can slug it out with Rocky Marciano and come out alive?

I dont understand this. On many threads there is a photo of Fitz showing and exagerated upper body movement where he looks like Ali the way he leans back to avoid a punch, which has you laughing about his style, and now on this thread you try to suggest that Fitz doesnt have any upper body movement. Which one is it?

Marciano actually seems to have had a similar underated defence to Fitzsimmons in relation to upper body movement in that he rolled and absorbed punches that did some damage but not the same maximum damage that outsiders seem to think.

Leaving that aside, i thought that Dempsey would have been a pretty good chance to slug it out with Dempsey and come out alive. Probably he would have been the best chance.

Other than this, as a roughie, I would say Tunney is probably a decent chance to do it as well, but no way he is standing and slugging.

If taking a roughie from a similar time period to last the distance, i think Jimmy
Bivins probably does, and Joe Maxim as well. I dont think they would beat Rocky but they would last the distance more often than not.

 

I don't think anyone can do it and win. The one with the best chance would be Qawi, but Marciano would've broken him down as the fight drug on.

 

Lightheavyweight Ezzard in his prime would turn the trick as well IMO.

Despite his chin issues, LHW Hearns' length, power and boxing ability would present serious problems for Marciano.

This one might get a few chuckles but Michael Moorer was a dominant LHW an and I think he'd be a live dog if he was matched up against The Rock at 185. I think a focused Moorer would be a nightmare for Rocky.

Bob Foster is another guy who'd be a matchup nightmare for Marciano for obvious reasons.

 

Why would he when he could just unload salvos and cook him like a piece of hairy cannoli at range. He'd get his ass beat by the real Charles. End of.

 

He's the first guy that came to my mind, and no he wasn't really above 185 pounds, started his career at 177 and fought Qawi at 187.

 

I don't think anyone can beat him but Dempsey and Langford could slug against him and it may be give and take for a while but both had solid whiskers, still Marciano too relentless and taxing for either of them to see the final bell of a 15 rounder and we can not guarantee there health...truth be told no man was ever the same after a Marciano fight... he was grueling and demoralizing to the human heart and soul and body.
