    (1) Didn't the post prime Charles actually slugged with Marciano on a few occasions and came out alive ?
    (2) Evander Holyfield weighed in as low as 176 as a pro , half a year after he turned pro .
He also weighed in 186 against Qawi in their first fight.
Holyfield could easily make 185 or 182 . Whomever doubts it is an idiot .
Holyfield busted his ass out and took industrial amounts of steroids and HGH to gain the lean weight he did.
    (3) Langford had the chance to come out alive in the minority of the occasions in a 4 fights or more series.
    Maybe even win once.
    (4) James Toney must not be discounted - the one who fought Jirov or some motivated version of his around that time , prior or since.
    (5) Qawi as was suggested might have had some chance.
    (6) The lightheavy version of Moorer would have been stronger if allowed more 10lbs , yet still in top shape , actually better shape.
Not to be considered a favorite , but such a version would have hit Marciano at least harder than Moore did which was enough to floor him , maybe harder than Walcott. Such a version will also have more speed than either one of the known versions of Moorer , be it the lightheavy or the heavy. And more stamina for sure than the lightheavy version.

Some additional matter of thought :
Were Marciano's gloves really loaded ?
Marciano's chin was not granite either - he was floored by older men (and it's not like Marciano was such a youngster then) in his not much long of a reign .
He probably saw the end with the arrival of a young Floyd Patterson and the acknowledging of the former fact , he knew he couldn't maintain his shine for long .

That comment by Kellerman, if correctly quoted, is quite something.

Really, 'crunch-time' would develop a new meaning if Marciano was left off the leash in that one.

Dempsey is the automatic selection here. Langford is another genuine danger as is Fitzsimmons.

Ted Spoon gets the feeling that Marciano's general lack of mobility in comparison with Dempsey would put him more so in harm’s way against the lighter blasters. Victory on their behalf is not favoured but should not come as a surprise.

I'm kind of sad that Patterson didn't get a mention :-(

Marciano in his prime, was a force of nature...at 5'11 and topping out at 189lbs...Marciano had no business being the Heavyweight champ..he was short...had a short reach...short arms...turned pro when he was almost 25 yrs old...but he had a HUGE heart...was the best conditioned fighter who ever lived...trained like nobody before...or since...great power...stamina...chin...high workrate
..a .kill...or be killed attitude..an incredible tolerance for pain...he hit like a much bigger man...and remember...he trained himself down to 189lbs...when The Rock retired in April 1956 he was over 200 lbs...put him in the ring with anyone...

Its hard to think of an under 185 Patterson that does well against Marciano i think Moore is his best fight under 185 and i dont see that Patterson winning.

Neither do I, sadly, unless he uncorked a flash knockout(and that version of Floyd could produce something huge and heavy Rocky didn't see).

I don't think the person has been born that could beat marciano at 185, at his pet weight he would be unbeatable.

To slug it out , not outbox him ... only guy I'd bet would be Langford.

Dempsey and Fitz would be pick 'em

I don't see any other light heavies or middles having a shot at all ... pound for pound Marciano was a monster.

I think Marciano would really injure him.

Considering that Edison Miranda was able to rock him several times during their first fight and break his jaw in the process I think Marciano would really injure this guy.

I think Evander Holyfield at Cruiserweight, Sam Langford, Jack Dempsey and quite possibly Floyd Patterson.

Well asked about this fight Robinson said something along the lines of 'are you trying to get me killed'. He's just comparatively too damn weak to cut it and would eventually be walked down and ko'd. And I'm a massive fan, more so than of Rocky

Dempsey weighted 180 for Toledo, his all time great performance.
