Hopkins could and winning isn't out the question. Ditto Toney.

I am not a Marciano wag, but with his power and pace, these too will be out of their depth. It isn't even close.

Based on Hopkins' and Toney's careers, I don't see a any strong evidence that Rocky would roll through them if they stayed on the inside. You have to go on a theoretical breaking point that neither has been close to hitting, even though they should have on paper against quite a few guys (especially Toney). The question isn't even who would win, it's just who could stay inside and walk away.

The question is out slug Marciano not outbox or defeat him ... neither Hopkins or Toney could hit hard enough to hurt Rocky let alone slug with him .... it would be suicide for either guy to try it ...

It doesn't say out slug...it says slug it out and survive. I'm counting that as fighting on the inside.

Toney could hide his chin for a while but Marciano would beat his body and arms relentlessly and with more power of anyone he had faced saved Sam Peter... and certainly with more pace and consistency than Peter. And as far as Toney's cute counters, Marciano saw plenty of these from Walcott, some from Moore and even Charles, three far better fighters. He would work through those infrequent spurts. Toney likes to fight 30 seconds a round which simply not suffice against Marciano. There would be nowhere for him to hide the other 2 and a half minutes.

BHop, again, has never exhibited the pace necessary to meet Marciano. He also likes to punch in single shots or at most two punch combos. That is not going to dissuade Marciano, who will also bring far more power than any opponent has ever brought to Hopkins. Here I think a KO is almost inevitable. Marciano may be small, and his power may often be exaggerated, but he did hit really, really ****ing hard.

I can only think of one name of a man under 185 who could fluster and go the distance with Rocco Marciano and it is NOT Bobby Fitz...... NO!!!! It is James Toney........

James Toney when properly trained and focused could hang at 185 or better yet, 190 pounds like he was for Vassily Jirov in 2003..... That type of Toney baby was slick and savvy enough to hang with Marciano....

NOW!! The blown-up 217 pound Toney who battered Evan Fields in 2003 would be a bad mother for "The Rock" to face.... WORD!

    MR.BILL:deal:bbb

People can whatever they want about the 40 year old Holy in 2003 against Toney, but Holy did land some wicked leather on Toney in the first 2 rds that would've toppled 95% of any ex-middleweight champion..... 'Tis no **** there....:think

Ridiculous..Marciano batters both before stopping them. Toney would hold up better than Hopkins, but those t forearms of his would be hurt real bad before the ko would come.

Toney has a better chin than Charles, Walcott and Moore imo Those men were all ko'd multiple times, Toney's never been close to going

I'd only really pick Langford with any certainty.

Fitz - got the brains to avoid the worst, is durable and may make Rocky to run into something big enough to win. More than 50%.
Ketchel - got power, skill, durability. May survive, not too sure about this though. More than 30%.
Langford - that´s a 50/50 chance I think. Langford has a great chin but was knockoutable and his defense wasn´t the best but on the other hand he had the power to knock out Rocky too, so he could make Marciano more cautious than he used to be when he catches him early. Has a good chance to win too. More than 50%.
Greb - I normally don´t judge how someone does in a fight without having seen that fighter fight but Greb´s career and repoerts on him suggest that he has a chance here. He has the chin to take Marciano´s stuff and the speed to avoid the worst. More than 30%.
Dempsey - he has a chance on knocking Marciano out early in war. I always picked the Rock to get up from a kd to stop him late though. More than 30%.
Patterson - may do the same what Dempsey may do, it´s just less likely. Less than 30%.
    M. Spinks - quite durable, has power and was awkward. Has a decent chance. Less than 30%.
Toney - might survive when he is at his best. He is a stylistical foil for Marciano and has the chin. He probably won´t win but he has a very good chance to survive. More than 30%.

GOod post:good I was aobut to say they same thingl.. He improved and learned alot form that fiist fight with Qawi.. .. Evander actuallly had all the iingrediants to beat, Marciano. whether he came it at `180 or 190. He wa

Michael SPpinks woiuld beat Marciano too,,,,, WOuldnt be wise for Michael Spinks to go toe toev with marciano. But hed slug in spiurts , use his rech, egs and awkward moves to frustrate the helll out of Marciano, even dropping or hurting in alogn the waylll... ( Edie Futcho)

Spins was discipline fighrter and would look goo d against Rocky.

Not to sure about Toney... He certainly had the skills to pull it off( AND EXCELENT CHIN).. But in the higHer weIOGHTS he tended to coast, aND U CANT DO THAT AGAINST Marciano.. NO matter how slick you are, if your not keeping Rocky off you hes gonna wear oud odwn or knok u out.... TOney was an ok/Decent pucher at CRuiser,, But he didtt have the equilazer that SPinks and HOly had.... He could have beat Jirov wide.. But he coasted in orunds and let Jirov outhustle him to make it a close fight.

Im komd pf 50/50 on the Jones that beat RUiz,, possibility he coul avoid Rockj all ntight and sitnk out the joiint by wining more rounds...
