Marvin Hagler was mine, I thought he was the complete package as he had that certain aura.

Then the thousands of excuse makers came out of the closet and had some obscure reason for any close fight/loss/poor performance he ever had. He has now reached mythical proportions as a fighter.

    What's yours?

I still like all the fighters I liked before I joined, the naysayers on here wont put me off. I do know a lot more about them though

It was Marvin Hagler and Roberto Duran then, and it still is. My mind was made up at least a decade before I joined ESB. It was those to fighters, who converted me to become a life long boxing fan.

There's no one that I was a big fan of whom I think annoying fanboys made me really dislike, but some fanboys just make me go from indifferent to rooting against the fighters, or just posting threads to annoy the fanboys (mostly on the GF, as I have too much respect for the Classic Forum to flood it with nonsense) and watch them get sensitive like you just insulted their family members.

    Vitali Klitschko
    Joe Calzaghe
    Oscar De La Hoya

The excuses made for them, especially Vitali and DLH, are just hilarious.

Hatton. Now I positiviely hate the man.

I used to like Ray Leonard too, but now can see him for the little ***** that he is. Kinda comes with worshiping at the altar of messers Hagler and Duran. If the 7 year old version of BritInvasion could hear me dissing my then idol Ray Leonard I think he'd cry. Well, not proper crying. But a bit pissed off like.

Seriously, though. You started studying boxing and found out Ali wasn't invincible, but that prime Tyson was? Man, you is one poor student of the sweet science.

(FYI, I don't think Ali was invincible either, but he did a pretty good imitation of it in his prime)

    This is ridiclious.

Ali beat better fighters, was at the top for far much longer than Tyson, and a more siginificant figure.

Tyson was great for a few years.

    No, that is true.

He is a wife beating, ear biting ******, though. Not that it really has anything to do with if he was great fighter or not. (Well, maybe the ear chewing part)

Tyson isn't racist, he'll bite your ear off regardless of what colour you are. Let's not get stupid.

Ali dominated his division for far much longer than Tyson did. You say Tyson looked better in the ring? He didn't when he crumbled against Holyfield and Douglas. Ali never crumbled like that because he had more heart than Tyson.

Ali is the greatest Heavyweight of all time based on his resume, talent, longevity, and his impact on the sport.

Tyson isn't in the top 5 for the very same reasons.
