Lightweight: Duran, Chavez, Whitaker - don´t know enough of the oldtimers like Leonard, Gans so i won´t comment on them.
Welterweight: Robinson, Leonard, Hearns, Griffith, Napoles, Basilio, Burley, Duran, Whitaker.
I´m not so sure about Henry Armstrong but i think he has good chances at both weights.

    Which weight class?

Mayweather was probably at his best @ 130.

Among the last 30 or so years, I'd pick Camacho Sr. over Mayweather @ 130. I'd make Chavez a slight favorite as well. I'd make Mayweather a favorite over Nelson.

I haven't seen enough footage of old-timers like Chocolate and Saddler to really make a prediction on those matchups.

If we go to welterweight, where Floyd's been fighting the last couple years, then I'd have a pretty long list of guys I'd make the favorite over Mayweather.

I agree that Mayweather was probably at his physical best at 130, I'm not so sure that he'd racked up enough ring experience (tough fights vs quality opposition at that weight).
I think the list of guys who beat him is short. From the 70's on: Arguello, Chavez @ 130, Duran beats just about anybody at 135. I think Mayweather could beat Pryor at 140. That's a bad matchup for Pryor. Leonard and Hearns would beat him at 147. Sweet Pea Whitaker edges him at any weight.

I think the opposite regarding Pryor. Although I think Pryor is overrated historically and Mayweather is the greater fighter, Pryor is a beast H2H, and I see him giving Mayweather all sorts of hell and winning.

From 130-147, these are fighters who have at least a 50/50 shot of beating Floyd, though most are favored over him. I may be missing a few as well:

What about Benny Leonard or a prime Shane Mosley

I don't rate Leonard in head to head terms as I personally don't see him as fully modernized. Most know my views on the modern era are from the 40's on, considering most of the modern techniques developed around these times, such as the high guard. Just my personal views, though I still rate him very high in ATG terms.

As far as Mosley, I'd agree that the prime WW version of Mosley may well have beaten Floyd. I'll add him.

All of the following could be argued, though I would only surely rate those that are high-lighted above him in an ATG P4P list.

You don`t think Luis Rodriguez ranks higher than Floyd all-time? I`m surprised to say the least SP, he was one heck of a fighter and his resume along with his outstanding boxing ability puts him a clear league above Mayweather IMO.

I personally would have Aaron Pryor over him as well from that list, and Henry Armstrong too going by everything I have read about him, but I suppose thats invalid as I have never actually seen him fight though. Great achievements.

I agree with you on Pryor beating the bejesus out of Floyd, but I am not so sure about Armstrong defeating Mayweather to be honest. P4P he was head and shoulders above him, but stylistically speaking Floyd is all wrong for Armstrong who would find it hard to get inside on him were he did most of his work. He`d have his moment I`m sure, but they would be few and far between as Floyd would not stay in close quarters for long.

But the winner of this fight really depends on which era this fight takes place in.... if they fight back in Henry`s day he would win because Fliyd`s potshotting and running would not earn him any points with either fans or judges back then but have them fight in this day and age and Floyd wins going away as his running and potshotting seem to impress people these days.

I also think the outcome of that fight depends on the weight. I'd pick the much quicker, more mobile Floyd to handily win at 130, but at 147 the less mobile Floyd would have a tougher time in my opinion.

As for Rodriguez, I was thinking on him as a matter of fact. I did say he could rate above Floyd, but I've not seen any lists of him outranking Floyd, nor am I sure he was a better fighter than the 130 pound Floyd, who was phenomenal. Either way, he DEFINITELY had the better resume than Floyd and proved himself against the best of the best. Honestly, I think it comes down to my underrating of Rodriguez. I'd also like to view more footage of him, which I'll likely be getting off you whenever I get a damn job!

But I was thinking on Rodriguez before you pointed it out and I think you've convinced me.
