I don't know this, it's just my opinion. I think Alexis had more one punch knockout power than Duran, and some of the shots he landed were some of the most brutal I've ever seen in the ring. Pryor may have looked "uncomfortable" to the body but I don't recall him being visibly hurt once in the entire fight.

It's a possibility, but I wouldn't bet my house on Pryor getting stopped or losing at 140 either.

Correct, but he belongs to a higher division like 147 lbs IMO. He showed there more than Floyd IMO. The same with many fighters, started 3 weight classes below, but belongs in a higher weight class. But Floyd´s best performances were at 130 lbs IMO...

Pryor would more than likely get into a slugfest with Duran. I don't see him trying some boxing clinic like our other friend does over the course of the fight. Pryor within range at all times? Not sure about that. He'd certainly not stand directly in front of Duran constantly. He did have the ability to get on his toes, move laterally, and pump the jab. That IMO isn't playing directly into Duran's hands. But still he gets caught when trying to do this mainly based on Duran's ability to step inside with hooks and combinations. As I said previously, Pryor wasn't an educated boxer like Leonard or Whitaker.

My last 3-4 posts have been a counter on selfkill's opinion that Pryor would outbox Duran to lopsided decision. Not my exactly my on view on how the fight would happen. I just don't see Pryor having the discipline or skills to outbox Duran. Pryor would get involved with Duran more often than not. And Duran would also draw Pryor into the the type of fight he would want.

But wouldn't this suggest that Napoles was more effective in moving up than PBF?

Not that is a factor in a head to head, hypothetical scenario though.

But Napoles was a better fighter than PBF IMHO.

As for Pryor, I believe Duran eventually picks him apart-but it would be a heck of a fight.

IMO Napoles best weight class was 147 lbs, PBF´s was 130 lbs, that´s why I meant that it´s not fair. But of course you´re right, also IMO Napoles was more effective at 147 lbs than Floyd

We don't know if 147 was Mantequilla's best weight class. He didn't get the opportunities below 147.

True, and from what I've heard, he looks better there than at 147.

And Napoles was always a small welterweight-

At 130, anybody know what the approx. weight of PBF when he entered the ring? Just wondering.

He was around 136-137 for the Corrales fight. I remember him being 10 lbs. less than Chico.

Napoles sure did fight like a real Welterweight. One of the best ever.

Napoles' movement was that of a fighter that glided across the canvas on rollerskates. He just seemed to glide in and out of range effortlessly.

Definitely, and not just that, but he had perfect balance due to the perfect technique of his footwork. Along with (and you might not like this Robbi, but I've been watching more of him lately) Willie Pep, probably the best footwork I've ever seen.

He's definitely one of my favorite fighters to watch. I've still not seen footage of his fights below WW, but against Cokes at WW(both fights) he is just brilliant.

Thanks for the info-so the size "difference between" Napoles & PBF shouldn't be equated in exact terms of a welterweight > junior lightweight.

But at least PBF is within the range of his weight class. Fighters like Corrales, Gatti, JLC take it to the extreme with the rules.
