Pryor was more or less an unknown when Duran left 135, in early 1978.

Pryor won his title at 140 against the same day Hearns won his at 147, against Cuevas in August of 1980. By then, Duran had already fought and defeated Leonard in June 1980. They fought again 5 months later.

Pryor did have an opportunity to fight Duran a year or 2 later. According to that Duran biography by Christian Guidance, it was supposed to be at a catchweight of 150. Pryor declined the fight because he had managerial issues to work with. His manager eventually went to prison for embezzlement. By the time Pryor had this managerial problem taken care off, Duran had moved on.

Pryor also rejected a fight with Leonard because he wanted more money.

Trinidad and Quartey did sign to fight, but Quartey pulled out and fought DLH, which resulted in a legal battle.

The NY courts website took it down, but this is more info on the Quartey-Trinidad cancelled match.

Since according to "fans" if anyone mentions your name and you do not fight them that day its a duck . . . no boxer in the history of the sport has not ducked at one point in time in their career
