Why all of a sudden is 48-0 so special that no one can beat him?

Duran was 72-1 at one point, JCC was 87-0, SRR was 128-1-2 before suffering his 2nd loss.

One thing I do know is that Mayweather is definitely beatable, just not be his contemporaries, which does indeed make him an elite fighter, but not unbeatable.

I still would pick all of the Fab 4 to beat him, in addition to numerous others, such as SRR.

What if JCC had retired at 87-0 then what would be said about him?

What makes 48-0 special is the fact that most of those fights were him as the lineal champion of his divison, he held belts from 130 to 154 while compiling that 48-0.

JCC retired at 87-0? He'd have been put down in history as horribad for never facing anyone live and never being "the man" at the division he was at.

"Floyd is definitely beatable" - yet, no one has proven that for sure, even fights where he was in early trouble (De La Hoya, Judah, Maidana 1) he was able to win through changing his gameplan.

This is why people like you lack credibility, because you're so busy trying to discredit someone for his achievements that you make it sound like "Any one of 15 fighters would have easily destroyed Floyd"

No one, at any weight between 130 and 154 would ever have "easily" dealt with Floyd. If you can't get that through your head, stop discussing the subject.

One thing to add about Mayweather is that he's never had to max out his effort to win a fight, so we don't know where that roof is.

    WTF are you talking about?

Don't take everyone who dissed Floyd and put it on me.

Show me ONE post where I said beating Floyd would be easy, and if you can't log off and go **** yourself. Nor have I ever named 15 fighters who could beat Floyd, but I can think of probably 7-8 that I'd bet on to beat him.

    **** are you biased.

Some of us have actually be watching fighters for years. Personally I think prime ODH would have beaten Floyd, and I sure as hell think he couldn't take the pressure Duran would bring, nor the power and reach of Hearns, nor the power of either SRL or SRR. Just because he's 48-0 doesn't make him unbeatable if you've seen better fighters in your life at various weight divisions.

You can make the exact same argument about Marciano, is he unbeatable too, is he the best ever also?

As far as dissing Floyd, nothing could be further from the truth, I have no problem saying he's a top 15-20 fighter, and if that's diss him, too ****ing bad.

There's many guys at WW and JMW from past eras that would be heavily favored against him, and rightfully so. Floyd only went up into those divisions after 10 years as a pro, with the WW and JMW being his 4th and 5th weight classes respectively.

Look at Ray leonard and Tommy Hearns. These were very big WW's who had success all the way to 175 lbs (their 5th weight classes.)

So I never saw it logical to try and compare him in H2H matches with much larger men than him like Robinson, Hearns, Burley, Leonard, Griffith, and so on.

But guys around his size, say from 130-140 is open game. And honestly, from what I've seen of him at the lighter weights, I like his chances against most guys and personally don't think anyone would wipe the floor with him, including Duran (a slick boxer with great movement could fluster him)

I see him being competitive with many of the smaller ATG's such as Chavez Sr, WHitaker, Pep (even though he might've been a little too small,) Benitez, Saddler, Pryor, Arguello, Nelson, Sanchez (also smaller but was eventually going to make his way north of FW.) even the magnificent benny leonard.

Objectively speaking, he's the complete package outside of possessing 1 punch KO power. He's very athletic, great footwork, elite reflexes, reaction time and handspeed, excellent stamina, very accurate with his combination punching, an ATG elite defensive fighter, and a ring general in every sense of the term. And to top it off, he's got a pretty solid chin to boot.

From a skillset perspective, I can't think of more than maybe a handful of guys that possess the talent he has. Obviously the talent pool in todays current era of boxing is nothing like how it was from the 20's-80's, so unfortunately he hasn't been tested too much in 20 years. But I still firmly believe he could've been a dominant champion in any era. I don't think he would've went north of LW back in the days of only 8 original weightclasses, but I still think he could hold his own with some of the ATG smaller guys from any era.

As already said there are quite a few that Floyd could very well lose to the one that stands out to me is the same fighter that many have mentioned tommy hearns .personally also I agree with the pick of kid gavilan there is one fighter though I would love to be able to take Floyd back in time and face at 140lbs and that is Aaron Pryor for me this would make a very watchable fight

How can we say for certain, the kid has never been beat yet. He's a special fighter alright, he just made Manny look ordinary, I can just imagine that lighting fast right hand of Hearns causing him big trouble though.

Yep the right hand would possibly be the money shot but the jab of hearns could well be the foundation of a hearns victory
