I seriously doubt either of those fighters heard the bell at first. The crowd was roaring loudly.

The fact is Roberto Duran threw and landed a heavy foul while the referee was actively attempting to stop him.

Buchanan lost his title on that. It was outrageous really.

Duran's punch to Buchanan's balls makes Wards low blows look legal.

Wlad should of had a lot more points taken from him in fights and would of been disqualified at least a few times if the ref's had not been of questionable ability

Yeah. When I finally got a chance to watch the fight a few years ago, I was shocked by how blatant a foul it was, and how little controversy it engendered.

    It's a bit mystifying.
I think Buchanan should have won on that and retained his title. Young Duran deserved a rematch based on his performance and would have been granted or earned one soon enough.
Instead we had Duran being proclaimed champion and Buchanan never got another shot at the title.

firstly, he wasnt robbed potentially of anything. Ali had more than enough to destory him, clear from his performance in that fight, AND their next fight. And you actually know this too. Cooper was hopelessly outclassed, it was not even competitive, even his "punchers chance" failed when he was gifted it. You tihnk Ali was going to get koed by him yet be able to absorb frazier, liston, shavers, bonavena, williams, chuvalo and foreman for round after round?

Quite apart from you living in self denial about this, to take way an absolutely obvious vicotry just because the cornerman wasnt fully aware of the change of rules from his state to Britain is a little churlish. If you processed it you'd admit that too.

recently , the standout case is wlad vs povetkin, and thats povetkins strongest case for being a world champion (by DQ). frekin sick to see wlad octopussing out before even 15 seconds had elapsed in the fight, and he just kept going every half a minute too.

Wlads makeshift reign really ended that night in 2012. He shouldnt have been defending against janitor Jennings and prospect Fury - not because they dont qualify as contenders (they didnt) but because he wasnt really in possession of title.

So it's ok that Kenny threw the punches after the bell, but it's not ok that Duran responded to the late punches with the nutshot?

That does not excuse the fact that Kenny threw 2 punches after the bell and then Duran responded. Duran responded with an illegal act after Kenny committed an illegal act. That's what happened for all to see.

The fact was Duran was going to win that fight against Buchanan. I think Buchanan tried to get Duran disqualified but acting hurt.
