Which fighters sub-190 pounds could beat Riddick Bowe ?

In a 15 round fight? Only Marciano could IMHO. Not that he would, but I think he has attributes Holyfield didn't have (Mainly power) that could make the fight more interesting. Let me just say that I think Marciano could slug it out and brawl better than Holyfield regardless of the weight difference. Not to say he would win, though.

 

You give johnny nelson a shot, but NOT Dempsey, Langford or Marciano? That is truly ****ed up. Of course Nelson OBVIOUSLY id well off the fight against the GREAT Tubbs. Wow, a clear reason why these boards are truly messed up.

 

I think that Bowe is being over rated head to head here.

His wins over Holyfield are verry impresive, but they are prety much his only wins against elite fighters. There are serious questions about how he would handel other styles.

For those who think that he would beat any 190lb fighter who mixed it up with him I would urge caution. Herbie Hyde had him out on his feet, so it should certainly not be taken for granted that he beats Dempsey or Marciano.

I don't think anyone under 190 js gonna beat him. Some may have a shot such as Dempsey, but I wouldn't bet on it.

 

I think Charles could get it done, Walcott could too but he weighed like 195lbs.

 

NOt one.... STyle wise Holyfield is his toughest fight out of the small hws.. Prime ALi at 310 could do it...But even the prospect Ali who weighed under 200 would be to inexperienced and have his hands full.

Louis chin wouldnt hold up,,,Marciano too short,,,Dempsey hell no....Charles would have some good rounds and take an early lead but Bowe would get to him. patterson kod early.

 

Quite a few. Loughran, Dempsey, Tunney, Schmeling, Charles, Moore, Marciano, M. Spinks. Guess I forgot a few too.

 

Spinks would last the longest and would trouble him early...But prime Bowe finishes him suddenly in 7.. Charles does good for 5 rounds....Dempsey,Schmeling,Marciano,Moore all get kod early... Tunney and especialllly Loughran not enough firepower too keep Bowe honest,there slick but they cant hide forever.,,, Top shape TOney might hang in there,but stilll loses.

 

I would argue a prime Ali is 100lbs lighter than that.

 

Micheal Spinks? He should stick to fighting Steffan Tangstad

 

I think it is a pretty long list. bowes willingness to fight up close with smaller opponents and often lose concentration for spells of infighting would be encouraging for many a good champ below 190. Bowe wasn’t any better than greg page or buster Douglas. A good fighter but lacking the ingredients to be a genuine top ten ATG.
