A good example is George Foreman. Many seem to think George would have gone on a Louis-esque run with the title if he hadn't run into Ali. I'm not one of them, but there are plenty of these guys.

Which other fighters suffered in such a way?

By the same token what might have been for Liston too?

Popular picks will be De Jesus and Valdez. Lemmee think a bit.

Ken Buchanan would have been interesting with a Dooran free run, tho he'd certainly made his mark.

Tyson without Holyfield may have added some legacy post prison instead of losing it.

Tho it was very late career who else but Pryor could have stopped Arguello's four title quest. A definite mark on history.

Some great picks JT, especially Buchanan, nice one.

I think Liston was ready in one way or the other, if he hadn't been told to dump against some other underdog the drinking would have gone for him.

Marlon Starling caught Curry in top flight twice, i always felt Marlon was the second best welter the whole time above McCrory. I'd guess Starling would have been the dominant welter for many years without Curry. He has good periods even so.

Dwight Braxton, if not for Spinks he would have totally dominated 175 for years. He near cleaned out half as it was.

Archie Moore, if not for Marciano he would have handed out heavyweight whoop ass i reckon and been the first ever champ to make the jump up and nab the bigger title.

Yeah, imagine if Moore got that heavyweight title. He'd be easy top 5 for many.

Donald Curry without Lloyd Honeyghan. Maybe Curry with his weight making problems would have been beaten any other challenger that night then moved up to 154lbs.

But if Curry won against anyone else that night it's not exactly written in stone that he would have moved up. He had been struggling with 147lbs as far back as 1982. Being one of only two undisputed champions in boxing at the time was a distinction that Curry enjoyed so much that he was too stubborn to give it up. And thats not an opinion, that a fact about why Curry stayed at 147lbs for so long.

Meh, I would of loved to see Archie accomplish this.
