    Riddick Bowe.

Don Duva basically threw him out of his gym for lack of effort, culminating in Tyrell Biggs allegedly flooring Bowe in sparring with a punch to the stomach.

Bowe was persona non grata for a good couple years for not winning the gold.

When someone asked Lou Duva his opinion on Bowe in Bowe's early years as a contender, Lou said bluntly: "He's a piece of ****."

Marciano is an obvious pick here. The only one who thought he'd be anything decent was him himself. Well, and Charley Goldman and Allie Columbo too, of course.

Bowe was a lazy trainer mind.

Maskaev's team were clealy harsh, he was matched ridiculously. Especially in hindsight now we know about his horrible chin.

I'm sorry, you're absolutely right, I meant Lou Duva not Don Duva.

Lou didn't like Bowe and he wasn't the only one. Even Futch was unconvinced until Bowe turned up at the crack of dawn for a training run as ordered.

Funny. Turning up late for one training run could've seen Bowe end up either doing something totally different or not being near as good as he ended up. Little things have big repercussions.

Zale went through a bad spell at one point early in his career and came close to retiring.
