Don't worry, there's a long time till the game comes out and Wikipedia is not the most reliable. A few weeks ago there was a lot more fighters on Wikipedia and now they've changed the list again.

This won't be a final roster, there will be far more boxers than that. I'm hoping this one's a tad more realistic (I.E. no five second parries, none of this superpunch stuff, power punchers that actually punch at a decent speed, a jab that is actually effective).

It's gone downhill since the first game, which was very enjoyable.

Dammit it gets old seeing the same guys in 3 different divisions. I'd rather them just put in an extra fighter instead. Get rid of Hatton at Welter, Winky at LHW, and add a few more current guys- like Paul Williams, Margarito, Abraham, Wlad, or fighters like that. I'm pretty sure Pavlik's not available since he signed he was sponsoring Prizefighter, though.

The first game was good except for the low life commentary, what the hell was that? The second game they brought in Tessitore which was a big improvement but it lacks in realistic knockdowns to win fights. I once knocked a guy down like 6 times with 20 haymakers and he still fought on. I hope they fixed this problem and also the age factor. My guy was able to fight til he was like 65

If that is the final list for the HWs, it's one of the best they've had...but I'd need to create Holyfield, Louis, Dempsey and Johnson I think. Plus a pick of the current heavys too.

I'd reccomend not paying any attention to the wikipedia list as it holds no ground.

The final roster has yet to be announced it is still early in production, but I can tell you that the following fighters are confirmed.

    Emmael Augustus
    Sugar Ray Leonard
    Lennox Lewis
    George Foreman
    Mike Tyson
    Muhammad Ali
    Winky Wright

Yes! I don't know his age but, last time I played the game, I was still carrying on the career of a guy I created that was up to over 100 wins and was around 50 years old or so.

After being an adonis in his prime (about 20 years previous!) he was fat as a whale by that point, and I even changed his hair so he barely had any left  His stats are crap now - he can barely move, slow punches, chin shot to pieces, no stamina, bleeds when you breathe on him...but despite that, a well-timed block and a full-strength hayemaker and he can keep knocking them over. Funny, but hardly realistic, it's like Foreman '94 times ten.

Very true. And when they go down slowly, you cave his face in and he gets up at six, because it's the first time he's been down. :\

Infact, I'm going to make a list of what I think needs severely improving:
    • Jabs; they aren't effective at all. They don't create distance, hurt your opponent or set up anything.
    • Hurt Fighters; whenever you wobble an opponent, they suddenly turn into Pernell Whitaker and become impossible to hit.
    • Haymakers; get rid of them or change them severely. Most knockout punches are well times and placed rather than just blatant power.
    • Energy bars; very outdated method for a game. Boxing tends to be how co-ordinated you keep yourself, rather than how much pain you're in.
    • Stamina; we saw in the Cotto fight what happens when you run out of stamina, all it does at the moment is makes your punches weak. You can never properly punch yourself out on the game either.
    • Chin; make fighters with a granite chin actually have a granite chin, I can't remember Hagler or LaMotta being knocked out in the second after being knocked down six times.
    • Knockouts; the quality should matter far more than the quantity. If I land a big shot right on the chin, he will always get up because it's the first knockdown, where as if I jab him for the forth knockdown, he will stay down. Also, start the count straight after the knockdown, not having a taunt first.
    • Defence; get rid of the silly parries. Way too exaggerated. Also get rid of the blocks that stop all punches coming through full stop.
A bit much, but they could all do with improvement.
