i said calzaghe is someone whom many question and thats the truth. im not on here to bash calzaghe or kessler but i didnt feel he was top 10 p4p before fighting calzaghe so i def dont see him there now. additionally, from then until now other fighters such as pavlik moved up in rankings
I'd say Dawson is the least of the worry out of those lot. Seriously I dont get where this idea that Dawson is anywhere near a top level fighter has come from. He is UNPROVEN, and from what I've seen has a leaky defence and shaky chin. Not impressed.
He was competitive against the greatest super middleweight of all time and one of the finest boxers of this generation. Kessler is in the top 15 right now. A win over Taylor in his next fight, plus a win over Mundine, Bute, or Froch/Inkin should get him in the top 10.
He won 4 maybe 5 rounds in my book. Most important; he didnt fight to his potential. His cornermen where utter useless!
P4P is insignificant for foreign fighters. It's basically a list of most popular American fighters on a winning streak or a foreigner that beats them. Proof is in the pudding with Calzaghe who was never regarded as up there until he beat Lacy. He could have beat Kessler, Ottke, Bute, Mundine, Lucas, Beyer and never would have been recognized cause they weren't American.
I would like to know too. You would think - with HBO liking him - they would have had something set up for him. Winky turn down a deal - but no back-up plan. That's messed up :|
Kessler is already a top 15 for the most part universally even with the loss to Calzaghe, a win over Dawson would be serious, as Dawson is generally considered a top 15 also, that'd put Kessler in at #7 or so. Pavlik doesn't really matter. If he did something like Bute and then Dawson and they were definitive wins, non-controversial, he'd be a lock for top 5. The way a fight is won counts a lot and in all of Kessler's wins, he won very dominative, if that continue's on the top level then his career will go far. I'd also bet he can sustain his level of performance into his mid - 30's, judging by style.
Amen...........:thumbsup The truth of the matter is that at SMW Kessler can go on to dominate if things work out. He gained my respect in the Calzaghe fight not only as a boxer but as a man with his genuine post fight interviews. Good luck to the man.
