Which fights do you suspect were fixed in order not to ruin another, major fight?

This is exactly true, when your circling & part of the TOP Promoters, Managers, Press, Refs and Board members, it becomes a Silent Understanding a nudge & a wink or a quick little whisper...

It is a disgusting BUSINESS, that has Cheated Fighters, Families, History and Fans alike for Decades.

Yeah well, there was no point in Minter getting another title fight anyway. If the Hamsho fight was going the distance minter wasn’t getting more than a split decision loss Away from home. Hamsho was likely already pencilled in for Hagler. That’s how it works.

Whitaker-Ramirez 1 seems like it could have been a case of this. It is said that King came to both fighters right before the fight with a contract for the winner to face Chavez. Whitaker refused to sign without having had any chance to negotiate while Ramirez accepted. Ramirez then went on to win probably the worst decision I've ever seen.

Yeah. They might not have to be bribed as such, just to know that a certain way of scoring/officiating while help them further down the line.

For example, one have to wonder what went through the mind of the judge that had Tyson ahead against Douglas. And the one that had the fight even, for that matter. It seems impossible to have these as objective scores, but also a bit unlikely that King even bothered to bribe the judges for a fight that no one thought would be competitive in any way, so maybe those two judges just thought that scoring in Tyson's favour would be good for their future.

You are talking rot and telling untruths. To label Hamsho - Minter a robbery is quite frankly ludicrous chok. Watch the fight one day.

Great post and the perfect example right there. I'd actually forgotten that one that tho it was brought up in here inside the last year or so i reckon. Don King in all his glory.

It was a split decision.. it was not a conclusive win either way. On those occasions the fighter on the way up (Hamsho in this case) gets it. Xxx

Because every official split decision ever must surely equal an inconclusive fight.

Admittedly you've taken a huge step forward as it's gone from Minter being "robbed" to "It was close but Mustufa didn’t win" to it being not conclusive.

Every card in eye on the ring scores it for Hamsho with the closest cards being 97-93 of which there are multiple including our very own PHILLYPHAN69. Ironically, or perhaps tellingly 2 out of the 3 judges scored it 97-93. The AP scored it 97-94 for Hamsho. Scar scored it for Hamsho in here as did rorschach51 who I've seen score a lot of fights and very well at that.

You, Alan himself, Alan's manager and Jerry Roth believe Minter won tho so there's that.

Edit - Just found where own own sweet scientist, whose passion was scoring fights, had it for Hamsho 99-92.

Maybe DelaHoya/Whitaker...looking down the road to matchups with Quartey and Trinidad that would be very lucrative.

SweetPea was an undefeated champion in reality if not officially. Though he was slipping got in good shape and turned DelaHoya into the world's greatest air conditioner.
It was a negative fight but Pea was the one controlling the fight and having fun doing it. He didn't muster much offense either but he had the edge.

Somehow he left the arena without his title, "losing" officially by pretty wide margins that suggest this decision was phoned in. A draw might have been fair but no way SweetPants should have lost his title.

It’s not even just TOP promotions, managers and fighters. Hometown decisions have been part of boxing from 4-rounders all the way up. Even amateurs at the lowest level.

Doesn’t mean it’s always crooked, but the old ‘you knock him out, you get a draw’ has been a thing since boxing started.

Yes, especially when an weathered fighter is up against an up and comer.
