It was a short stabbing right with no real follow-through.
Spinks threw a right, then was just cowering forward, off balance, waiting to get hit.

It was certainly the least devastating looking punch Tyson won a world title fight with, outside of the Seldon farce.

Holyfield was even more off his best form than Tyson was.
Holyfield was near enough washed-up already. Damaged goods. That's the reason Don King brought him in, as another set-up for the post-prison Tyson to feast on.

Funny how people like to re-write history on this fight.

That was a perfect snapping right uppercut that would have ****ed up any fighter. Watch Tysons shoulder snap when he delivers that shot, it was a well executed nasty shot that was perfectly timed to hit Spinks as he leaned to his left. One of the more impressive Tyson knockouts in my opinion.
    Watch it again 1:33 mark

    It's as I remember it.
Tyson just stabs at Spinks with that punch. He doesn't punch through the target much at all.
I wouldn't even call it an uppercut,
Tyson threw and landed some great uppercuts in his heyday - the Spinks punch wasn't one of them.

You need to see it in slow motion to appreciate it. It was a devastating shot. There was a postfight special on HBO where Merchant and Rooney breakdown the fight in slow motion and show how that shot landed. Rooney said it was the best shot Tyson ever landed.

I think Tyson at his best would be too much for Evander. Evanders a great fighter dont get me wrong but Tyson at his peak was a totally different animal.

Evander himself recently commented that he only won in 1996 purely due to conditioning and admitted he himself didnt know how a fight in 1991 would have gone. The article was on here a few months back.

Unforgiven, nobody is rewriting history. Holyfield was thought of as old and shot because of his fights with Bowe and Cyz and Tyson was thought of unstoppable because he beat...Mcneely, Mathis, Seldon and a sacred stiff Bruno (Who Tyson had already beat anyway)
In hindsight we can now see Holyfield wasnt as shot as people thought he was and Tyson wasnt the force of nature he once was.

Tyson 1987/88 and Holyfield 1990/93. Who would win ? I give a 60/40 shot to Tyson.

Holyfield was damaged goods, and brought in as cannon fodder. He was an OLD 34.
Sure, Tyson's wasn't what he once was, technically, physically or mentally. But he still had extreme speed and power and hadn't sustained as much damage in fights as Holyfield had.

A past prime Tyson got beaten from pillar to post by a past prime Holyfield. That much we do know.

For someone to call the fight a "farce" because TYSON was past his best, IS re-writing history. Holyfield was actually AT LEAST as washed-up as Tyson, but beat him up regardless.

I fully agree with you, but most won't no matter what. No use wasting energy, I'd say.

Yes but that doesnt mean Holyfield automatically wins had they fought in their respective prime.
Technically Holyfield wasnt as washed up as Tyson. Holyfield could still do what he did best better than Tyson could when they fought, and that was proven in subsequent fights by both guys.

Damaged goods?! You actually think Holyfield was more damaged goods than Tyson you've gotta reconsider. All of that legal bologna that Tyson had been dealing with. Tyson was the definition of damaged goods.
