I think perhaps the Tyson fans when all is said and done. Ali and Louis fans also tend to disregard their fighters' flaws and make them somewhat mythical in ability, but when it comes to Tyson the proportions get almost ludicrous. Without exaggerating, "peak Tyson", which seems to have been in existence for some 23 minutes, is made out like some 220 lbs combination of Duran and Pac. Always coning in behind jabs and with perpetual head movement, throwing seven punch combos. That is literally the highlight reel version of him. No other fighter's fans (not even Duran's) have such problem keeping apart the real version from the highlight one.

Ok. What about his spectacular accomplishments? He did a lot of things that most greats rated above him could only dream of. We also must remember he spent 3 years in prison and 4 years without touching a glove.

I can see some fans of modern boxers wearing rose colored glasses.

People didn't really rock those as much back in the day.

I would say Foreman fans take the cake when exaggerating his prowess. The usual banter is "Foreman broke chins", or "When you fight Foreman you're never the same again", or even this little number "Foreman has 10 times the power of so and so".

All Tyson fans use his peak when matching him with mythical fights. Nothing wrong with that. Most fighters have their prime within that short window time frame as well. I'm not sure why people feel he didn't accomplish a great deal when the film footage is there to be seen.

Oh, I think Mike was great at his peak. But this with constant head movement, jabs and combos is a myth which the footage doesn't bare out. He wasn't prime Duran with just 90 lbs of added muscle. He fought far more in spurts and was far more prone to lead with big single punches. Even in 1986-1988.

I see unrealistic claims, imo, made for Marciano, probably more than for any other champion, Johnson too has some overipe endorsements, he could not be touched etc
Frazier to some extent as well, his resume does not bear out the extravagant hype heaped upon him.
Ali is the best heavyweight I've seen, but he wasn't unhittable and he had his well documented flaws as Eddie Futch showed, though he probably comes as near to justifying the hype laid on him as any heavyweight champion ever will.
Tyson was a force of nature who was fixed in our minds by clever marketing of highlight ko reels, but he could be tied up and frustrated, and was something of a front runner. Like Frazier his prime was brief.

No fighter is unhittable, unbeatable, landed every punch, made their opponent miss every punch, needed only to land one SuzieQ ,Iron Mike etc flush to end a fight .Even Louis has a few blind fan boys, and suffered some anxious moments against less than sterling opposition. My personal favourite Dempsey does not have the resume to rival a Louis or an Ali,and the spectre of Wills will always haunt his legacy.
We take a lot on trust, intuition, whatever you want to call it,like our favourites we are human too and subject to,and influenced by our sometimes irrational ,less than subjective, personal preferences.
As you've asked ,[and this will come as no surprise to those who fervently believe I've an ongoing hate campaign against him,]I'll say the most over- hyped hyperbolic praise that is lauded on a heavyweight champion, falls on the honest shoulders of Rocky Marciano.

Mainly the old timers. I actually think tyson and ali are two of the most underrated on here nowadays. Mainly because the casuals got a hold of them the so called experts love to be able to tell them their wrong. It makes them feel good about themselves. Just my opinion.

Alis resume speaks for itself...foremann. frazier. Liston. That alone is enough to justify him as being one of the best ever. These were serioys guys. As well as the many other good fighters he beat.

And anyone that watches prime tyson at his best...its clear to see he was on a different level to even the top guys in the division at the age of 20 years old. Thats pretty much phenomenal. We all know what happened and it ended up going downhill for him pretty much of his own doing but for that brief period he was a head to head nitemare for anyone imo
