As it says, past heavyweight Champs and contenders that, if were fighting now, would be Cruiser or light heavy?
Even as recent as Herbie Hide, he would perhaps be cruiser now.

    Marciano?
    Patterson?
    Louis?
Floyd would be an ATG at light heavy for me.
Can we say from at least pre Floyd Patterson, most would be too small for today's division??

Most of them would arguably fight in lower weight classes. But I think that for instance James J. Jeffries would still be a solid heavyweight today and naturally trained as well (no fat, just natural muscles without PEDs).

That's nearly impossible to say, especially with Lineal Heavyweight Champions. If you could bring say Jack Dempsey back, put him in his prime, with full knowledge of his legacy and career, I suspect he would want to bulk up to over 200 pounds and compete at Heavyweight. Many of the other Lineal Champions may feel the same way. As for Contenders, who never got a strap, that may be different in some cases.

Impossible to say what they would chose, but they would certainly have more options.

But a lot depends on how successful they would be. For example, Floyd, Ingo, Henry Cooper, there's no way they could be as successful now. They'd be crushed.

True by the cheating bunch who inject their bodies with that hideous stuff. We used to have fighters like the one's that you listed, who won fair and square with what they had, nothing more. That is why I pay attention to the smaller guys, they for real. The smaller weight guys will not end up with all sorts of different cancers when they get old. I do not call it getting an edge with Steroids, it is like using a device to cheat on a slot machine at a Casino.

I think for the most part Ali's era in back. Yeah I think a few like Forman would still be a heavyweight, But Smoking Joe?

Perhaps, but somebody like Louis might just decide to go straight to heavyweight, for the bigger pay days.

Marciano IMO would have no real problem trying to move to the heavyweight division.
If you bring Rocky to the current era, no 15 round fights, 12 round fight and better nutrition (Steroid).
Not only would rocky fight in his natural weight, which was 205 pounds, but if he decided to touch the roids, he would be a full ledged heavyweight with relative ease.

Marciano, Dempsey and Patterson would be having brutal fights at 175 if they were about now

Robert Fitzsimmons was a Middleweight, then became Heavyweight Champion, then lost it and came back to compete successfully at Light Heavyweight. He is a great Heavyweight Champion candidate to compete for a belt at a lower weight class today, since he has already demonstrated the desire to do exactly that. There were other Heavyweight Champions who competed in lower weight classes early in their careers and might start out doing that same thing today. I'm sure most here know who they are.

Yep, Ruby Rob was a special fighter. Getting the heavyweight title then moving down and capturing the light heavy, all at a decent age. He'd have being an excellent fighter any era in the middle and light heavy, IMO.
