Hi everyone I recently had my first white collar bout it's not exactly the route I wanted to go down I have had 7 amatuer fights. I was really enjoying it but opening another business has left me not been able to drive the 40 mins each night to the nearest Aba club and if of course if you are not in the gym they won't match you. Anyway dediced to do a white collar as Theres a gym much closer to me I was training at not the same but I missed getting In a ring so thought why not. The big change I found In there was the gloves when they told me to bring my own 10 oz's I just brought my old Aba Adidas 10's I wore In amatuers. He had on a pair of those light blue everlast 10's his looked like ufc gloves compared to my pillows lol I never thought two gloves supposedly the same could be so different! I felt the difference aswell I managed to win but was hurt a few times. Don't want to make the same mistake again so can anyone tell me the best gloves to buy? Not concerned about cost just want my next opponent to feel the way I did in my last fight
I was dropped by a guy wearing a pair of Hyabusa 16 ounces in sparring once. Although they were 16 ounce, when I examined them after - they were actually smaller than standard 14 ounce bag gloves...lol...heck, he might as well have hit me wearing an oven mitt. Everlast protex2 gloves also offer very meager cushion. I used to drop guys on a regular with those. Hated the strap though, cuz it didn't wrap all the way around the wrist so after a year or so of wear, the velcro would come undone sometimes. So, those are my votes. Sh|tty gloves that you can hurt people with. I wouldn't buy them again, unless I were in your position, and needed to hurt people with gloves of equal ounce-age.
Thanks mate. It's crazy how much difference the gloves make. I'll look into the everlasts. Is it true punchers gloves tend to be everlasts or Reyes these day?
That's what I hear. The Everlast Protex2 gloves are also made of a durable vinyl. Which means they are almost as durable as leather gloves and significantly better than the cheap vinyl (yes, there's good vinyl and bad vinyl). And they are especially supple, which means the fist comes through a lot more than the leather or cheap vinyl.
Daaamn. Next time check the gloves of the guy you are fighting. If they are too hard dont fight. Also why are they using 10oz in a white collar. I thought 16oz is the norm. Make an issue of it. Contact the guys beforehand and tell them whats up. If you are loaded buy two sets of gloves one for you one for your opponent and let him know its for the best. You can loan it to him for the fight and afterwards he can buy it if he wants to or you just keep it for the next fight Its a pain in the ass but no one wants to be hit with a brick. Ideally the place having the weight collar would have proper gloves for the fighters but these events are known to cut corners. Irritates the hell out of me. If this **** doesnt stop people are going to get seriously injured in white collar and they will fking ban it!!!! :fire:fire:fire
