In worst I mean when they have a bad showing or lose their fans abandon them.

I'd have to go with the Pinoys.

After Boom Boom was annaliated is round one this once Pinoy boxer regarded by his fans as the next Pac, the 2nd best Pinoy boxer, the second coming of boxings atg is abandoned and criticized by being called by the same fans a no hoper, overrated, avearge at best Pinoy fighter.

    Who else?

    Bring it ON!!!:D

We Americans too. We will be quick to dump a fighter on his ass after even just one loss sometimes (depending on who he lost to and the manner in which he lost).

There are bandwagon hoppers of all nationalities. I see it as much among American fans as from Filipino fans, or German fans, or whoever. EVERYBODY hops on the bandwagon of touted fighters.

You should have seen the hysteria in the U.S. boxing press in the 1980s when Tyson came along. Every boxing mag had him on the cover all the time.

You should have asked who had the worst AND best fans.

I'm a huge Pacquiao fan, one of my all-time favorites and a loyal fan but some of his fans are just way too ridiculous.

    Marciano fans

while he was a great fighter, he often gets overrated by his fans because he retired undefeated. And I've heard people say out of Bowe, Lewis, Tyson, Dempsey that none of them beat him. :dead

    The brazilians fans, no doubt.
If a brazilian fighter loses a fight he will definitely be abandoned by the most.
Look what happened to Acelino Freitas. Major star in Brazil, more than 15 million fans watched him beat Casamayor at 3 A.M., in a country where boxing has NO tradition.
Freitas becomes THE MAN, very close to Pelé, Ronaldo and Ayrton Senna.
Then, Freitas gets KO'd by Corrales and the people and media simply abandon and forget him.
Also, we have the case of the ATG Eder Jofre. Elected by WBC the best bantanweight of history and the 9th best fighter of the world of the past 50 years by The Ring Magazine. And 99% of the brazilian population doesn't even know or remember who he is.

if bautista can learn to box like what espinosa did, he can still be a world champion someday. pinoys did not abandon bautista. they watched his comeback fight but was not really impressive against meza. thats when many pinoys here gave-up on him and not after the de leon KO.

bautista "the next pacquiao hype" was a product of philippine media. it's not unusual since, pinoys are looking for pacquiao's successor since he will be retiring soon.

Mexicans without a doubt... most of them claim that they know everything about boxing... and when their fighter gets exposed they will come up with an excuse like he was already shot, it was just an off night and all the BS... and continue sucking nuts... plenty here still believes that margarito will out match floyd.:patsch

edit: no one abandoned bautista, the last time i saw him at ala gym people where all smiles at him, everyone gave him words of inspiration. what you read here are just sentiments so we can air out our frustrations.

hey boomboom i know you are reading this.... keep it man!:good
