    • Round 2 vs Mitchell
    • Round 8 vs Reid

Had that left hook that Kessler through landed in the 12th I think we would have been having a very different conversation over the past few days

Calzaghe has constantly stated that the Eubank fight was his hardest; he needed to dig really deep in that fight and was caught by a brilliant right hand from Eubank at the end of round 12. Calzaghe was relieved to hear the final bell.

So, I'd have to say Eubank round 12. Although getting dropped by that Mitchell bomb was a worrier. I'll never forget what Joe said in the interview after that fight:

''I wasn't gonna let him beat me''

    :scaredas:

Calzaghe is petrified of losing, but that's helped make him a winner

I've often thought that Joe is far more worried about seeing an 'L' on his record than being hit by some massive right hook.

For me, round 12 vs Eubank easily. He was absolutely exhausted. He'd punched himself out during the fight and ate two massive punches just on the final bells and looked out of it. Did very well to come through that fight at such a young age.

You're probably right. Joe actually relishes a tear up; according to him it must be something in the Welsh air or the combination of Welsh/Italian heritage.

But he loves being a winner, and would take any number of right hooks and still come smashing back to preserve his unbeaten record.

Joe is a WINNER! Even in his darkest moments, in the toughest rounds, he says to himself: "I will not let you beat me! You will pay for this!" And he always delivers!:happy

Well from an audiences perspective it would have to be the mitchell one. But I think its gotta be the eubank round 12 because that fight meant and means so much to Joe and it was hard for him mentally rather than physically.

It was hard for him physically too; 12 rounds for the first time and against a legend like Chris Eubank who was far from shot.

Calzaghe could hardly stand in the dressing room afterwards.

Round 12 vs Eubank, Joe pretty much said so himself right after beating Kessler.

If Reid had sent him down after all those right hands he would have lost. It was in the middle of the fight too. Against Eubanks it was just a matter of lasting the rest of the round, a far easier task.
