In terms of total weight, Floyd-JMM has more coz the irresponsible / unprofessional Floyd didn't even try to make weight...

Agreed.....Smaller man going up 2 weight classes against a man who had just took P4P king in Floyd 12 tough and competitive rounds a year ealier vs Floyd facing the smaller man who was comming up 2 weight classes where he's never faught. The plus is that JMM was considered the P4P #2 fighter in the world....but everything in perspective....JMM shouldn't have faught above 140.

DLH was fully capable of defending himself and throwing punches but the difference was PAC. He had the style, natrual gifts and attributes to offset DLH. I know, I know....DLH was a walking corpse. I don't buy that excuse just b/c PAC blew out all expectations. I give more credit to PAC than the excuse that DLH was a "walking Corpse". before the fight and after the weigh in most were indicating how well conditioned DLH was b/c he DID NOT balloon up in weight like he normally does....and reports from camp and Nacho was DLH was FULLY prepared and ready to fight but it was PAC, not DLH's conditioning that was the reason for his loss.

Props go to Manny for taking the fight, obviously. No one knew how ineffective DLH would be (even Roach wouldn't have predicted *that*).

As for actual performance... neither opponent had a realistic chance, as it turned out. Manny gets credit for managing the weight well and closing the show, Floyd for dominating an undersized, but live, opponent. Split those hairs if you want, I couldn't be bothered.

 

I'd like you to meet the discussion of weight not gravity.

 

Pacquiao's win was of more value I would say. Both wins can be criticized, and neither are the victor's best win (or even close), but Pac jumped 2 weight divisions and was just too fast for Oscar. Floyd enjoyed considerable size advantages over a lightweight, and those differences made it a non-event before it started. Not so with Pac-Oscar.

DLH fighting Pac was considered a circus act giving DLH almost every advantage. PAC won!! PBF fighting JMM was considered a tune up fight. PBF even failed to come in the preferred weight and had every advantage to himself. Ofcourse PBF won.

Sad post, but hardly unexpected.

I picked Oscar by a 60-40 margin a few days before the fight.

Had I known about Oscar's weight on fight night, I would have narrowed tha to 51-49.

That said, it was still a huge victory for Pac (who, at this point, I believe will lose to Cotto. I'm a fan of both, slightly more of a Pac fan though).

He had moved up a long way and Oscar should still have been dangerous for him.


I had little doubt that Mayweather would beat JMM. He was MUCH bigger, and he didn't even honor the catchweight nature of the fight when he weighed in at 147.

I have a problem with catchweights for a title, but not for non-title bouts, and Floyd should have honoured his commitment.


Floyd was the clear favourite and Manny clearly wasn't.


I don't see the JMM fight as much of an addition to Floyd'sresume, but Pac's victory, circumstances notwithstanding, was huge.


VERY CLEARLY, Pac's was the better victory.

......I did as well. My assertion was that DLH would use his jab and keep Pacquiao at a distance.....that he's use his size and strenghth to just push Pacquiao off anytime he got within punching range.....


The *******s in this forum never attacked me for my predicition, because it so happened that a few days before the fight actually occured, I had written a post saying that I felt that Pacquiao would beat DLH in much the same way he beat MAB if the matchup was really a P4P fight.......meaning if both fighters weighed the same in the ring.

It turned out that my honest opinion of the matchup came true......when DLH walked into the ring weighing 147 and Pacquiao 148 lbs.......I said it to all in the room where I was watching it......
I said, "if what Lampley is saying is true, you're about to see Pacquiao dismantle DLH."

.....anyone that knows boxing knew right there that DLH weighing 147 lbs in the ring, was'nt going to have the strenghth to push off and manhandle Pacquiao physically.

........and I was referring to a prime Pacquiao vs a prime DLH!

My feeling all along is that if at any stage in their careers they both climbed the ring ropes weighing at the Welterweight limit or less, Pacquiao beats DLH.

A prime DLH at Welter, the one that fought Quartey and Trinidad, did'nt walk into the ring at 147 lbs or below.......that DLH by the time he got in the ring was at about 160 lbs.....
......now that DLH I feel at some point in the fight KO's Pacquiao.

......but both weighing about the same in the ring, Pacquiao imo takes it everytime.


.....again, I would pick Pacquiao to beat a prime DLH where the weight is the same, in this particular instance the weight was about the same but DLH was so far away from prime, that it should not come as a shock to anyone that felt the way I did about a real P4P matchup to have actually seen Pacquiao completely destroy a far out of prime DLH.
