Cuevas was an iron chinned monster. Duran was finished.

KO said it best. "The violent reign of Pipino the terror...."

Both. He outpunched both, but neither one was a one punch knockout. He hit both of them clean over and over. Although Duran had more success hitting Hearns with a couple of body punches and 2 or 3 right hands. Cuevas didn't really land anything. Even on those two matches, had Cuevas or Duran landed it would have changed everything. Hearns was rumored to fight a rematch with Duran had he beaten Ray in 1989 and that would have been an interesting fight. I don't think it would have been a 2nd round knockout again. I think that would have gone 5 or 6 and Hearns would have won by TKO.

Duran. Just because of the sound of the right hand landing. That was a sound that normally comes from the movies, not a boxing ring.

The Duran KO was more spectacular to the boxing world, and unexpected ,but Duran was way past his best weight by then.

The KO over Pipino was a destruction over the terror of a weight class, and helped establish a new one.

Yet Duran beat Iran Barkley five years later, shocking everyone.

Duran wasn't finished, he was overwhelmed by Hearns's tremendous physical advantages. As was Cuevas.

I would say both performances were equally impressive, as both Cuevas and Duran had shown tremendous chins up to their fights with Hearns. It was more a case of Hearns having tremendous punching power than a lack of chin of Cuevas and Duran.
