Hi mcvey. Yes Ali stands at one. Patterson in a way impressive because of the manner in which he lost to ingo. Ingo was been called the new dempsey by one of the papers!!! So Floyd getting it back in such devastating manner, at the time would have been quite a achievement. Vit klitschko coming back in a way was something, after been out for a number of years.

In a way you could give it to Holyfield. He rematched the man who won the titles off him in an ATG fight. To come back with a new fight plan and defeat Bowe was very impressive indeed.

Holyfield impressed me more the second time he regained the title. He had lost the title that he regained the first time round, against Michael Moorer and then was stopped for the first time in his career in the rubber match against Bowe. Many saw him as a shot fighter and a big underdog when he was matched against a Mike Tyson that had quickly and easily acquired a few title belts since his prison release but he turned in a great performance to beat Tyson.

    Ali first for obvious reasons
2nd Foreman, for being in his 40s. Its not been done.
    3. Holyman - guy was punchig above his weight first time, to do it again was freaky.
Fourth Lewis - emphatic rematch wins proved it was just a blip
Number 5 Tyson - the aura was gone, we knew he wasnt himself just watching
    6. Vitali - terrible opponent only match fit for 6 rounders, and no attempt to rematch his loss all point to Sam Peter being a stooge to keep K2 in the money. But a long run of defences migitates this.
Moorer - poor class of defences 2nd time round, single title.

The impressive part about Foreman is not the age, it's the decade away from the sport.....

Forget about Ali-Spinks. IMHO he 'threw' that fight just to be the first 3-time champ knowing the 7-0-1 greenie would rematch him immediately. Even if Ali didn't tank, what's so impressive with his Spinks victory? The newer fighters mentioned didn't win the full title; it was already being broken down with multi-Bodies. I'm biased but Patterson was the first one to do it (after a devastating loss) when there was only ONE Champion.
Sidebar: How can anyone say Ali's second fight with Leon was more heartwarming and impressive than Patterson's effort against Ellis in his bid to become a 3-timer?
