Vitali Klitschko is up there. He looks like a huge puncher because of his KO record, and the WBC called him the biggest heavyweight puncher of all-time.

    Foreman imo.
Yeah he hit hard, and was strong, but most often than not, Louis, Marciano, Jeff, perhaps, left than OUT. Ten counts.

Foreman's victims just seem to get up to be knockdown again. In the same vain as Jack Dempsey vs Willard or Firpo,(Film fights)

Vitali is a great shout but people who know boxing for the most part don't call him a monster puncher.
Sam Peter was a champ and had the most over rated power out of anyone in this era imo

I'll actually meet you on this one. Tyson had plenty power..but it was his blinding speed and terrific accuracy for a HW that made him seem much more powerful than he was.

Always irks me when people say he had more power than a guy like Foreman.

The most interesting thing about Sam Peter is that his KO of Jeremy Williams is where all of his "phenomenal cosmic power" talk originates from. That said Calvin Brock has an equally impressive KO with Zuri Lawrence and he was blasted as some sort of powder puff puncher.

    Foreman had shocking type power.

If you can see the punch coming, it might knock you down but not totally out.

    Another silly over-rated/under-rated thread.

Popular picks are two of the most EFFECTIVE heavyweight punchers in history, Foreman and VK.

    Excellent work.

I suppose Jim Braddock is the most under-rated in the power dept.

Foreman had heavy hands, but didn't have the sharpness or precision to cause impressive knockouts, he was battering them down until they could rise no more, why it's hard to find more than just a few real one or two punch KO's from him. Kinda like Valuev, his punches are very heavy (more so than Foreman's), but with very few impressive results.

Aren't you a bit hard on George here? He was after all the only guy to truly KO Frazier and the only to stop Chuvalo without an injury being involved. I also think he was the only one to stop Lyle as he did. A guy who took the best Shavers had to give. Add George's KO tally to that and it looks pretty good.
