V.K. is a good combination puncher; not a true one-shot KO artist... :bbb

However, I say Rocky Marciano's power is overrated... Marciano KO'd an aged Joe Wally 2X with wicked power, but he had to wear down and club "Louis, Charles, Cockell and Moore" to death... Them were NOT one-punch KO's.....

I disagree with you big time on Louis .. he may be the best pound for pound hitter of all time ... just because he was very fast and a terrific combination puncher does not take away from the fact that he could crush with either hand ... look at the monsters he destroyed ... Abe Simon, Buddy Baer , Primo .. not just stopping them but how he stopped them .. nasty puncher ...

I also agree that M. Baer is over rated ...

    You are joking right?

If Baers power was over rated, then he must have had some technical briliance that we are all missing.

How else did he become champion?

He fought far and away the worst man ever to hold the title in Carnera for one ...

Carnera was not in the running for that honour.

You hate Bruno & can't stand the fact that he visibly packed a big punch.

As for "live opponents"... how about Coetzee, Tillis, Truth Williams, & Coetzer?

Most big punching named contenders through history didn't demonstrate their power against anyone elite.

How about Cleveland Williams & Mac Foster... I bet you don't question their power, yet they didn't stop better opposition.

Really ... than why with 72 KO's in 88 wins does no one consider him the most over rated puncher ? The answer is because no one even considers him a puncher .. so why is a man with a 80 plus % KO record over close to ninty bouts even considered by anyone as an all time great puncher ? Be cause his career was based on fixes .. Come on Janitor .. get real on this one ..

None of the above mentioned were 'live' fighters. All were shot and in some never fought again. You can quote all these power tests or whatever they are, and i dont give a **** if hes benchpressed 5,000,000lbs or knocked out an elephant, he never , ever did it in the ring against a 'live' opponent. Its an inescapable fact:deal

    Mike Tyson

Quite a few opponents said it was the pressure that he exerted rather than the power that they found difficult to handle.

I mean, he obviously hit hard, no doubt, but shot for shot there are a number of heavyweights that hit harder.

In fairness to Carnera and his supporters, he does not look to me as the worst on film, but in fact seems to have been a good boxer for such a gigantic man. I think his sheer size, and decent althleticism, would have beaten a number of the older champs.

His biggest weakness was his chin against top hitters like Louis and Baer.
