Boxing historians often give Sam Langford his just due, and rightfully so, I see that as only fair. Most experts put him on the all-time pound-for-pound lists. An official world title eluded Sam unfortunately, but because history has been the best judge of his all-time standing, let's determine all of the former heavyweight boxing champs which Langford ranks higher than. I kick off the list below, please add to my choices and/or feel free to remove any names from my compilation, of course. Let's have some fun. Ready, set, go!

    Marvin Hart
    Frank Bruno
    Bruce Seldon
    John Ruiz
    Herbie Hide
    Michael Bentt
    Francesco Damiani
    Siarhei Liakhovich

Langford ranks higher than all of these guys. Compared to these guys listed above, Langford's a god in the ring. Just imagine if Langford fought in this current era. Oh boy.

Those names were just eight I could think of; I might be missing many more.

Some historians rank Langford in their top 10-15 but it’s kinda hard to place him above some of the usual guys you see up there.

For your money, is he still a solid Top 20 and highly above the eight men I mention above?

Langford needs to be rated more at light-heavyweight since that is where he'd be fighting if he were around today.

Still, i rank him in my all time top 20 heavyweight. He accomplished a lot at that weight.

This. Langford has a better resume than all the guys listed above. Langford before he got too old would be a serious threat to any heavyweight champion past or present.

Langford vs Todays guys would be interesting especially vs Wilder two punchers going at it

Maybe Sam doesn't surpass the Klitschkos all-time but may be right behind them.
