Which Heavyweight Champions Does Sam Langford Surpass?

Ali, Louis, Holmes Lewis, Foreman, Holyfield, Wlad, Frazier, Marciano, Tyson, Liston, Charles, Patterson, Dempsey, Bowe, Jeffries, Johnson, Schmeling, Walcott, Sharkey & Baer are the lineal champs I'd rate above him.

 

I rate him 15-20 so quite a bloody few

 

If you produced a list of the best twenty heavyweights of all time, he would make the cut somewhere around the same place as Schmeling or Walcott.

The only other men on the list who had never held the lineal title, would be Harry Wills and perhaps Vitally Klitschko.

Quite a lot of lineal heavyweight champions would not make the list.

 

I remember my Wilder vs Langford thread and I think it ages quite well

Of course he doesn't surpass the Klitschkos
Duh.

 

He beats everyone on that list, but not the super HW"s of the 21st Century. He does well against Louis, Marciano, Liston, but starts to lose his edge with Ali, Holyfield, Lewis.

 

If you take Langford best wins, he exceeds quite a few very popular lineal champions. Neither Johnson or Dempsey wanted anything to do with Langford. Probably the guy who deserved a shot more than any other heavyweight contender I can think of.

 

Hate to say that, but he'd kill you with first landed shot.

 

Johnson reportedly dropped Langford twice in the 6th round

 

I just started studying langford so i cant really give an idea of who'd win I'll give you answer tommorow after i look more into it.
