Which heavyweight champions lost the fewest rounds?

Vitali was never lineal DJ. He was rated ring champ but not lineal i believe.

 

I’ve always wondered who was actually ahead on the scorecards in the Foreman-Ali bout before the stoppage? I never bothered to find out before but it’s got me curious now.

Historically, it's tricky. I remember many decades when whoever Ring said was Champion was automatically considered the Lineal Champion by boxing fans at large. There's no doubt that, in more modern times, the Ring has lost a lot of the prestige it used to command. It's no longer considered "The Bible of Boxing" and the reasons are many. Your distinction is certainly valid in Modern thinking.

 

In rounds, Ali was ahead on all three cards: 4-2-1, 3-0-4, 4-1-2.

- Gene Tunney
- Rocky Marciano
- Lennox Lewis
When Lennox Lewis retired it took several years, and a lot of fighting, for someone to be recognized as a "lineal champion", and that (as far as I know) happened in the fight between Vladimir Klitschko and Ruslan Chagaev.
