Which heavyweight fights of the 2000s will you remember as Classics ?

not all time clealry but some pretty good fights...but considering the 90's this list is awful

 

On a sidenote,

It seems to me that fighters today, are more concerned with preserving themselves rather than to risk injury by going for the gusto. That said, I highly doubt that we're ever likely to see a match like Holyfield Dokes, Moorer Cooper, Holyfield Bowe, etc. ever again.

Yes. Why do people defend this era? Only Klit fans to preserve their legacy. Let's wait till Mendoza to save this thread lol.

 

David Haye in his next 3 fights might prove the exception. Ignore the running job against Valuev - that was against the grain. Haye is someone that can't resist coming out bombing and the fact he's a big puncher with a less than granite chin makes it even more likely that he's going to get into a war, especially if he fights Vitali after Ruiz.

 

Lewis-Klit was fun.

Brewster-Klit I was fun.

Brewster - Lyakhovich was one of those brutal career ending type wars. Great fight.

Rahman - Maskaev II was very brutal and underrated. Lots of very solid lands and a good pace.

Rahman - Sanders was another really fun fight.

 

tha was a brilliant fight! barely any holding, and loads of big shots landing! its a shame both fighters were never the same after it, but it says a lot about the fight itself

best vitali fight aswell, and obviously one of the best HW fights of the decade if not THE best

 

he wont fight again this decade though! the fights that have been listed are (just about) all we have to go on

 

What?!?!? Don't you know that the Klits are the best ever (Besides Brian Minto of course). They can beat anybody in history because they are over 6'6" and 240 lbs.

 

Anytime Brian Minto steps into the ring, it's a classic.

 

Lewis vs Klitschko, and Lyakhovich vs Brewster were two very exiting title fights. Peter vs W. Klitschko wasn't a title fight, but it was very interesting.

I think part of the problem in the heavyweight division is the Klitschko's are heads and shoulders above the competition.
