Good point, though I picked Brewster because he's an all action type fighter, but Golota would be my 2nd choice, the guy has a huge fan base, and has Tyson like mentality, which is always enertaining and usually provides fireworks of some kind.
This content is protected Golota seems to have found more self control, resolve, and focus, these days. He kept bringing the fight to Mollo, even with that eye sealed shut. I'd look forward to seeing him in another titleshot. I think he could probably beat Chagaev, from what I've seen. I would not doubt that he could also, maybe, beat Samuel Peter.
Damn, his eye looks all ****ed up. Yeah, but as me and you both know, when Golota is on the big stage, fireworks are likely. I myself dont see him beating either Chageav or Peter, they both are good, shorter Heavyweights with good hooks, I see Peter possibly doing a Brewster on him, and Chagaev taking him into the middle rounds and catching him with something big and finishing him. I wish the best for Golota, but I dont see him to doing well against the higher level fighters at this stage in his career.
Seeing this thread I thought about another thread that was here some weeks ago, it was about over the hill but still active HWs fighting each other with the losers being forced to retire. I don't remember who posted the thread. I didn't think much about the idea at first, but now I think it isn't so bad after all. The winners prove they still have something left, get another high-profile name on their record, climb the rankings and maybe get another title-shot for some belt. From the fighters mentioned in the poll, Sultan Ibragimov, Eddie Chambers, Lyakhovich and Calvin Brock don't fit in that category, they all had some setbacks but they are nowhere the end of their careers. So I would replace them with Oliver McCall, Evander Holyfield, David Tua, Michael Moorer, Joe Mesi and John Ruiz (I know, nobody wants to see Ruiz, but this seems to be the only way to make him go away). We could have a 'night of the veterans' with the following six HW-bouts: James Toney-John Ruiz (Toney would prove that his first win against Ruiz had nothing to do with steroids) Oliver McCall-Evander Holyfield (we could expect a toe to toe war from these two old-timers) Lamon Brewster-David Tua (another total war) Andrew Golota-Joe Mesi (two fan favourites) Hasim Rahman-Michael Moorer (two former champs) Shannon Briggs-Ray Austin (well...)
No real fan of the sport wants to see that cheating clubfighter get anywhere near the title. And they have nothing to worry about - without King pulling the strings, that fraud won't sniff a belt.
If Tua was on the list I'd chose him, but since he isn't I went with Golota. His fight with Mollo was hilarious and entertaining, but he's 40 so there's not much of anywhere that he can go.
Puh-leez. There is no way that that fraud should be given a title shot as long as he "wins" fights by holding excessively - which, outside of faking "low blows," is the only way he CAN win against rated fighters.:yep
I stick steadfast with my boy..... Friday Ahunanya..... I gots to be loyal... But from the list .. something in me likes the gameness of Chambers..
None of the above. I'd like to see a rejuvenated David Tua. I can't get the Ruiz ko out of my mind. I looked at it again recently, and thought he was channeling Jack Dempsey the way he tore into Ruiz, hurt him and savagely finished him off like a lion killing a gazelle. He was FANTASTIC!!!!
Chambers....but in all honesty I think he should go down to cruiser. He would have some pop to his punch down there and that great defense
Vitali!!!! But from the list provided, Brewster!!! He is one tough SOB. Very fun to watch that guy fight.
