The same Briggs who lost to Lewis drew with Botha a year later! Before facing Lewis, Briggs was KO'd by a NO NAME in 1996.

If you look at Briggs under 30, and over 30, the quality of wins is close to even.

Some big punchers who don't know how to pace themselves / lack experience are better off in their 30's. For example, I happen to think Foreman in the 1990's was better than Foreman from 1975-1976.

I think Wlad is better in this 30's than 20's as well.

The older version of Briggs has more experience, took a better punch, and you could argue beat better name fighters.

A person's ability to take a punch doesn't improve with age. In fact there is little or nothing one can do to promote resistance to a punch in the face.

I agree with you here there are many cases where Heavyweights have been later bloomers and I do not mean as old as George Foreman at 44 but even big George improved his pace and thus his stamina and learned to roll and defend and preserve his energy better but aside from George and especially these days where 80% of the Heavyweights are over 33 years of age and Lightheavys like B-Hop and Tarver close to 50 are still going strong

A few standout examples don't represent the norm. Especially when the said individuals being named are all time greats - Something Shannon Briggs is not.

When Briggs fought Lewis he had lost just once he was coming off his biggest career victory ever ,a win over the lineal Champion Foreman.

I'l ask again since you did not answer last time .

Is it your opinion that the 39years old unranked Briggs who had had 4 fights against nobodies in the 3 years prior to his fight with Vitali was a better fighter than the 26years old ,once defeated in 31 fights,no 5 ranked Briggs that fought Lewis?

A simple yes or no is all that is required.

    Waiting?:think

Improved his pace ? Do you mean his pacing?
B Hop and Tarver are like Thompson and Chagaev around because there isnt much in their divisions. Once they meet a decent fighter it will be good night
