Which heavyweights had a better chin than Oliver McCall?

Nobody I can think of was better. Ali and Vitali are probably on par. The thing about McCall was, his chin didn't seem to erode. Pinklon Thomas did have qreat chin, but it seemed to erode post Berbick. Witherspoon also had a great chin, except for the 2nd Bonecrusher fight.

Who hit McCall?

Lewis did in the second fight. Oliver let him wail away, and nothing happened. Lewis, who we all know had great power was just allowed to T off on an unprotected target, free swings really, and McCall was not hurt at all by the punches.

 

Chuvalo, Mercer, McCall .. exceptional chins .. you don't see a man get hit harder than Chuvalo did against George Foreman and stay up let alone alive ..

McCall and Vitali are the two obvious goats for hw chin, you can make an argument for either one. Vitali took maybe the best single punch anyone has ever taken and not gone down, certainly the most legendary. McCall took more overall shots than Vitali though. Neither ever went down, but McCall suffered an uncredited kd by Akinwande.

 

That is my pick also.

 

Mccall was a bum with a record full of bums. Take Lewis off and he wouldn't even be remembered.

 

Mercer, Tua and Iabuchi

 

Ali.

As for Vitali, he rarely did get hit clean.He does not deserve a mention.

 

Mercer took some huge uppercuts off Lewis, his head just didn't fly up like Vitali's did, probably due to his thicker neck.

It was a beast of an uppercut that Vitali took, but I think his chin is a little over rated, it's granite for sure but not as good as McCall's, Mercer's and Chuvalo's. Even Mavrovic took more shots and in combination from Lewis without stumbling like Vitali did in the final round vs Lewis.

 

Chuvalo's chin was ridiculous. It looked every bit as tough as it was as well. The way Foreman was just bouncing shots off his head was brutal. When Chuvalo dies they will probably have to bury him up right as I think it's impossible for the man to lie down, epic chin.

 

That's a bit harsh.
We're in the business of remembering fighters here.

Vitali should not be in this discussion considering he barely got hit outside of 1 fight, and Sanders had him on bambi legs after 1 left hand.
