Sonny Liston vs. Cassius Clay I

Back in February 1964, nobody would have had a clue of what the hell was going on.

Cassius Clay changing his name to "Cassius X"

Cassius Clay opening up a hamburger joint, called 'Champburgers".

Cassius Clay received 6% of the "Gross Receipts", for selling the 'rights' for the use of his name.

    In all seriousness -

    Ali-Liston I & II
    Ali-Foreman
    Leonard-Hagler
    Louis-Schmelling II
    Johnson-Jeffries

I think we're really overlooking Chavez Taylor 1. The internet would have gone berserk.

For one that hadn't been mentioned how about Mexican Joe Rivers and Ad Wolgast. Or Arguello Pryor with the bottle.

Would be interesting Louis vs Schmeling I if ESB had more germans.......

Leonard vs Duran II would be insane......

Perhaps the Klitschko fans would have been Schmeling fans?

I get the idea that Mac Allen would have been prety ugly.

The British and American titles were unified for the first time, and there was subsequently an atempt on Mace's life.

Hagler/Hearns was insane without the Internet... With it

I would also be telling anyone who would listen, that Spinks was going to outpoint Tyson, that would of been quite a burning.

Also the melt down when the invincible John L lost...

All hell would of broke loose with the long count.

Plus the mass boycott when people leave in disgust when Johnson beat Burns, and we had ourselves a Black Heavyweight Champ.

Which makes me think, who would of been brave enough to champion Peter Jackson's claim in the 1890's...

You have to view big fights through the prism of the times when they were fought.

I think Louis vs. Schmeling 2 was basically a dress rehearsal for World War II
